Mossad standard issue pistol
From what I have read, researched, and heard, the standard issue pistol of the Mossad, the Israeli Secret Service (Foreign intelligence service), is the .22LR Beretta Model 71 with a suppressor.

- You do realize that we don't have access to everything under the sun? You do realize that the MEMBERSHIP (which is YOU) is responsible for finding and posting pics and information? (Edit) Never mind, I realized the you are 14 years old and thus will expect things that adults won't. Sorry, kid. The way it works here is that the members, many of them, are just like you. And none of us are WITHHOLDING pics just for the hell of it. Pics aren't here because we either haven't found an example to photograph yet or someone (usually someone else) hasn't found a pic on Google to jack yet. And what exactly is a REAL Beretta Model 71? From what I can tell, the REAL Model 71 doesn't look any different than the Model 71 we have posted. MPM

- Well (1) it's kinda funny since YOU (LJ Gibbs) didn't sign your post either and (2) at least that anonymous member signed with their IP address. There are quite a few IMFDB users who have not made profiles yet. Personally I don't like it, but there are so many fleeting and anonymous users and I can't force them all to make a profile. - Calm down everyone- I own a Beretta Model 70 in .22 LR, which I might post a pic or two of if I get around to it. Bottom line, the pistol is an incredibly accurate piece of hardware. Rumor has it that the Mossad did indeed use it, and was supposedly the favored pistols for the assassination teams sent out in "Operation Wrath of God", fictionalized in the movie "Munich". Ironically, all the Berettas used in the film are 9mm, which might be due to the fact that these pistols are extremely hard to find. I searched for over a year before I found one, and I bought it within hours of it appearing for sale on the internet. These pistols are the sort of gun that could have been picked up for a few hundred dollars back in the day, and for many were the first pistol they ever purchased. Thirty years later, rather than sell them they are giving them to sons, daughters, and grandchildren, because three decades later they still shoot arrow straight. I can get two inch groups at 50 yards with mine, and at 20 yards I can do four consecutive double-taps within a four inch group. The Israelis never officially confirmed that the Mossad used them, but their sky marshals that flew on all El-Al airlines flights did use them, and one sky marshal killed/wounded three would-be hijackers with his Beretta in an incident in the 1970s. What is absolutely confirmable, however, is that the Mossad have long since switched over to Glock and SIG 9mms, and apparently have quite an affection for the full-auto Glock 18.

Victor Ostrovsky, in his book By Way of Deception, claimed that the model 70 in .22 lr was the Mossad's standard pistol. Back in the 80s HBO did a movie about "Operation Wrath of God", and they used model 70s in the movie. I almost bought one in .380 acp back in the late 70s. The only thing that stopped me is that I'm left-handed, and the pistol came with those damned thumb-rest grips, that Uncle Sam mandated. As I recall it sold for about $169.99. David.
Produced 1958 to 1968?
There are various sources that state that Model 70 and variants were produced 'till 1985. Yes, the Model 70 series - without suffix - was indeed manufactured from 1958-1968. But isn't there a (target only?) Model 70T that was produced '69-'75 and (.380 ACP) Model 70S that was produced '77-'85? TrickShotFinn (talk) 06:39, 9 April 2017 (EDT)
