Soldier Blue is a 1970 American Western film directed by Ralph Nelson and starring Peter Strauss in the role of Honus Gent, the titular "Soldier Blue".
In 1877, Honus Gent is a young American cavalryman assigned to escort a wagon carrying young Cresta Lee, a soldier's fiancée, who was kidnapped by the natives of the Cheyenne tribe for two years. After a Cheyenne attack on their cavalry troop, Honus and Cresta must work together to survive the hostile wilderness and its many dangers.
The following weapons were used in the film Soldier Blue:
Revolvers
Single Action Army
Honus Gent (Peter Strauss), Colonel Iverson (John Anderson), Maribel Lee (Candice Bergen), and all the U.S. Cavalry soldiers carry the Colt Single Action Army throughout the film. Isaac Q. Cumber (Donald Pleasence) appears with two holstered Colt Single Action Armys that he does not use at any point in the film.
Throughout the film, only the "Cavalry" model is used, as this variant of the Colt Single Action Army was the standard sidearm of the U.S. Cavalry forces at the time.
