Romy Schneider (Rosemarie Magdalena Albach, 23 September 1938 - 29 May 1982) was a German-French actress who began her career in her youth. In her early years, she played various roles in several Heimatfilms. Her worldwide breakthrough came in the role of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sissi. She was an active actress until her death and participated in theater performances in the early 1960s.
