The first season tells 9 stories (originally planned 10, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic one of them was postponed) from alternate universes that arose after the events of Loki. Episode 1 of the series finds Peggy Carter taking the super serum instead of Steve Rogers and Episode 2 poses the question of what if T'Challa (the final role for Chadwick Boseman) became Star-Lord, among other alternate scenarios. Despite the format of the anthologies, all the episodes of Season 1 are linked by a coherent plot. Season 1 of What If...? premiered on Disney+ on August 11, 2021.

The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the animated series What If...?:

Handguns

Beretta 92SB

General Ross, enraged, shoots Hulk several times with what appears to be an olive-colored Beretta 92SB in "What If... The World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?" (S1E03), but of course, this does not harm him in any way. Sharon Carter is armed with the same gun in "What If... Zombies!?" (S1E05). She uses it when she and Happy stumble upon Zombie Hawkeye and a small crowd of other zombies. During the fight, the pistol is destroyed by a shot from the Iron Man Gauntlet of the Zombie Happy. James Rhodes is armed with a pistol in "What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" (S1E06). He pulls out his pistol when the alarm goes up and then shoots the Black Panther several times. T'Challa draws out the pistol, explaining that he will not harm Rhodes.

But T'Challa grabs the gun from the frightened officer.

Colt M1911A1

During the liberation of allied prisoners of war, Bucky Barnes and Captain Carter are armed with Colt M1911A1 pistols in "What If... Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?" (S1E01).

Electric Blaster

An Electric Blaster is used by Nebula in "What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?" (S1E02). She first points her pistol at T'Challa in the Royal Talon Fighter after betraying the Ravagers. In the prison, she suddenly kills Corvus Glaive. During the escape from the Collector's Museum, Nebula shoots at Proxima Midnight and Cull Obsidian.

Glock 17

Black Widow uses a Glock 17 instead of her Glock 26 during the Avengers mission on the Golden Gate Bridge in "What If... Zombies!?" (S1E05). Later in the episode, Bucky Barnes uses the Glock 17 with custom slide and trigger when he arrives at Camp Lehigh with his survivor group. He takes it out of an invisible holster and holds it while checking abandoned buildings and later, during the final battle with Zombie Scarlet Witch. Black Widow briefly holds a Glock 17 again during the famous Avenger posing scene in "What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" (S1E06). Ulysses Klaue also uses the pistol in the same episode. He pulls it out of the holster during the attack on the Churchill ship but immediately hides in the shadows. Black Widow also carries the Glock 17 in "What If... Ultron Won?" (S1E08) and uses it during an Ultron Sentries attack at the HYDRA Siberian Facility. Natasha continues to use her pistol in "What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath?" (S1E09), notably during her first encounter with the Guardians of the Multiverse.

After that, Kruger fires his pistol at Steve, who rushed at him.
And after that, he steals one capsule containing the Super Soldier serum and was already heading for the exit, but Peggy blocked his way.

Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded MC Operator

Like in the movie, Erik Killmonger is armed with a Springfield Armory Loaded MC Operator pistol in "What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" (S1E06). He uses it only a couple of times: first after being exposed by Stark, trying to protect himself from Stark Liberator Drone, and then on the border with Wakanda, killing Ulysses Klaue.

The Watcher Broke His Oath?" (S1E09). First, it is briefly visible on the belt during Ego's Expansion, then T'Challa aims them at Natasha when she stole the Infinity Stone, and after that, the blasters are seen several times during the battle with the Ultron (including when referring to the famous scene with the posing of the Avengers). After defeating Ultron, T'Challa teaches his new friend Peter Quill how to shoot a blaster.

In "What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?" (S1E02) T'Challa points his blaster at the lock...
...and holsters it.
Star-Lord fires back from the Ultron Sentries in "What If... Ultron Won?" (S1E08). Judging by the location, the action takes place in 2014, during the action of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

When Captain Carter rescues captives from the 107th Infantry Regiment, Gabe Jones engages in combat with the HYDRA soldiers using an M1A1 Thompson in "What If... Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?" (S1E01). After that, all Howling Commandos' members appear with the Thompson. They are also armed with Thompsons during the attack on the Schnellzug EP912 Train. James Montgomery Falsworth and Bucky Barnes and several other members of the Howling Commandos also use the M1A1 Thompson later in the episode.

Kruger's Bomb

As in the original film, Heinz Kruger, a HYDRA top assassin, uses a detonator disguised as a lighter to activate the bomb, and then sabotages in "What If... Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?" (S1E01). As in the original movie, the bomb is disguised as a cigarette case, but here instead of being left in the observation room to create a distraction the bomb is placed to attempt to destroy the equipment used for the experiment.

Peggy notices the detonator in Kruger's hand.

M67 Hand Grenade

Erik Killmonger carries two M67 Hand Grenades on his belt but never uses it in "What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" (S1E06).

Black Widow's Bite

Like all Black Widows, Natasha Romanoff has and uses a wrist electroshock weapon called Black Widow's Bite during an Ultron Sentries attack at the HYDRA Siberian Facility in "What If... Ultron Won?" (S1E08). The Black Widow also uses it in "What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath?" (S1E09) incapacitating Batroc.

Hawkeye's Collapsible Recurve Bow

Hawkeye uses his collapsible recurve bow in "What If... The World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?" (S1E03). It is first seen during the recap of the movies from the Phase One (in particular The Avengers). Hawkeye uses his bow during the Infiltration into the S.H.I.E.L.D. Crater Investigation Site. He holds Thor at gunpoint and suddenly fires. He also uses his bow in "What If... Zombies!?" (S1E05). Hawkeye also briefly uses his bow during the famous Avenger posing scene in "What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" (S1E06). Hawkeye uses his bow with different types of arrows (some of which appear for the first time in MCU) as the main weapon in "What If... Ultron Won?" (S1E08). After Hawkeye's death, Natasha takes his bow for herself (in fact, this is rather strange, since the bow had to be destroyed along with the owner) and uses it only once, when she launches an arrow with Zola Virus into Ultron's eye in "What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath?" (S1E09), destroying him.

Iron Man's Repulsors

Iron Man Mark IV Armor's repulsors are visible during Tony Stark's and Nick Fury's dialogue at Randy's Donuts at the beginning of "What If... The World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?" (S1E03). Mark V Armor's repulsors are also seen later during the recap of the movies from the Phase One (in particular Iron Man 2). Zombified Tony Stark uses the Mark L Armor's palm repulsors in a fight with the Black Order, and later with Bruce Banner at the beginning of "What If... Zombies!?" (S1E05). Still alive, Tony Stark uses the repulsors during the fight between the Avengers and a horde of zombies on the Golden Gate Bridge in a flashback.

Stark Liberator Drones' Weapons

Some kind of explosive guns are mounted on Stark Liberator Drones created by Stark and Killmonger in "What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" (S1E06). The first drone released attacks Killmonger in Stark's apartment without using a cannon. After the death of Tony Stark, Stark Industries workers, together with the US Government, create an entire army of Liberator Drones for the war with Wakanda. During the battle with Dora Milaje, drones actively use cannons.

The barrel of the gun is visible during a fight between the first drone and Killmonger in Tony's apartment. The muzzle resembles the muzzle of a Mk 19 Grenade Launcher.
Another quad wrist-mounted rotary guns are seen during the landing of Drones army in Wakanda.

Together with Dora Milaje, Shuri bursts into the Citadel room, where she does not find anyone.

Trivia

Panzerkampfwagen VI "Tiger"

The HYDRA uses a variety of heavy Tiger tanks throughout "What If... Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?" (S1E01). First, one tank is covered by a detachment of infantry storming Castle Rock Tower where the Tesseract is hidden. Several tanks arrive at the Austrian HYDRA Facility during the battle. A few heavy Tiger tanks attack Captain Carter and Howling Commandos, but HYDRA Stomper destroys it. Carter also destroys one, damaging the tracks.
