We Want the Colonels (Vogliamo i colonnelli)
We Want the Colonels (Vogliamo i colonnelli) is a 1973 Italian political comedy directed by Mario Monicelli. Giuseppe Tritoni (Ugo Tognazzi), a ultra-right-wing politican, plans a coup d'etat together with several army and navy high rank officers. Only a series of grotesque comical obstacles prevent them from a success.
The following weapons were used in the film We Want the Colonels (Vogliamo i colonnelli):
Beretta Model 70
Most of conspirators, including Giuseppe Tritoni (Ugo Tognazzi), carry Beretta Model 70 pistols. They are also seen in hands of carabiniers in the final scene.
Some of the officers, participating in coup d'etat, carry Beretta M1951 pistols. Members of paramilitary neo-Nazi organisation also use M1951 pistols.
In the scene when the conspirators make the final decision, plainclothed officers draw their pistols and fire in air. The pistols that are seen appear to be Walther P38s.
Beretta Model 38/42
Numerous members of paramilitary neo-Nazi organisation carry Beretta Model 38/42 SMGs during the training.
Beretta Model 38/44
Beretta Model 38/44 SMGs are also used by neo-Nazi, soldiers of the units, participating in coup d'etat, and carabiniers.
Paratroopers-frogmen of Col. Barbacane's unit and some of Col. Furas' soldiers are armed with Beretta M12 SMGs.
M3 "Grease Gun"
In the final scene some carabiniers are armed with M3 "Grease Gun" SMGs.
Sten Mk II
What appear to be Sten Mk II SMGs are seen in hands of Col. Barbacane's paratroopers-frogmen during the training mission.
Some members of paramilitary neo-Nazi organisation carry Carcano M91/38 short rifles during the training.
Several of abovementioned men carry Carcano short rifles that are nearly identical with Carcano M91/38 except for the straight bolt handle. Possibly these are standard M91 long rifles that were converted to carbine length.
Soldiers with Beretta BM59 rifles are seen in footage of a military parade.
An MG3 machine gun is seen mounted on top of a tank turret during the military parade.
A Bofors L/60 is seen in a column of Col. Furos' unit.
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
Some members of paramilitary neo-Nazi organisation carry Mk 2 Hand Grenade during the training. In the final scene Giuseppe Tritoni (Ugo Tognazzi) grabs a grenade from a carabinier.
M40 Recoilless Rifle
Jeep-mounted M40 Recoilless Rifles are seen in the documentary footage.
Unidentified flare pistol
One of the soldiers of Col. Barbacane's unit fires a flare pistol. It is seen in nearly complete darkness.
