The Way Back is a 2010 American movie directed by Peter Weir that is inspired by the 1956 novel The Long Walk by former Polish prisoner of war Sławomir Rawicz. In a Siberian labor camp, Pole Janusz, Russian Valka, American Mr. Smith, and other prisoners meet and form an alliance for survival. Together they forge an escape plan, which they put into action during an ice storm. They exert superhuman efforts to get into their respective homeland. And it is a lossy path that leads the community from Siberia through the Gobi Desert and even across the Himalayas.

The Commandant (Stanislav Pishtalov) is briefly seen with a Nagant M1895 revolver during the blizzard.

The Commandant threatens Mr. Smith (Ed Harris) with his Nagant revolver to make him obey his order to lay down.
After Mr. Smith starts walking to the forest the perplexed Commandant holds the revolver at him again.
