gun brand pages

Looks good, the H&K logo looks a bit big. Good luck with Smith & Wesson! --Predator20 23:36, 23 December 2011 (CST)

Thank you for the reply, and sorry I misjudged you (to be honest, I didn't notice the discussion, so I did think you were some foolish n00b who was changing things without consulting admins). I thought that I was simply upholding a decision that the rest of the staff had agreed to a long time ago. At the very least, I guess we should discuss the matter again in the topic - and clearly, the forum's not such a good place, since we have too many problems with spammers. And Happy Holidays to you, too. -MT2008 10:01, 24 December 2011 (CST)
Looks good. I'm a mod here. I really like the Colt page. The S&W page is going to be an intensive piece of labor for you. I agree with bunni. We need a category for these new pages. --Jcordell 16:30, 27 December 2011 (CST)

I've been collecting S&W revolvers for several years. S&W has always been a very organized company with outstanding records. Better organized company in so many aspects. In the past couple of years I've gotten into Colt revolvers and I've learned that getting information about the various Colt handguns is very challenging. For most of it's history Colt was rather scatter-shot in it's approach. For example they would have different models use the same serial number range (Official Police and .38 spl Officer Model Target pre-WWII), but the Pre-WWII Officer Model Target .22LR had it's own serial numbers. Why? Who knows? Other models (such as the Theur derringer) would be made for decades and Colt has little to no written records about the models. For example the serial numbers will not tell you what year an individual derringer was made. And then you have the Official Police model and it's variants. Over 700,000 made over a seventy year period. Very challenging. I like the colt double action revolvers, but I can see why colt has almost gone out of business and S&W is still prospering. Hopefully Colt's fairly new management can fix things. --Jcordell 17:37, 27 December 2011 (CST)

No I'm sorry. Not as knowledgable about Taurus. But I do have a couple books that might be helpful. I'll look through them.--Jcordell 19:00, 19 January 2012 (CST)

Once again you're doing good work tackling the pages that the rest of us just lack the energy for. Such as the page for the S&W 27/28. Looks good. --Jcordell 10:40, 7 February 2012 (CST)

Call of Duty MW3

Done --phoenixent 18:11, 4 June 2012 (CDT)

Did the change to Dark Knight and EvilTim did James Bond. --Steve
I like your templates a lot as it cleans up the page. How does that work for a TV series with multiple seasons? --Steve
Hey Zack.. That template for CSI looks real good. I think you have another winner with the TV seasons.--Steve

The gun manufacturers template is cool except when you get into clones like the M16 series, 1911 Pistols, Colt SAA Revolvers and others. Not sure how to worked that problem as it is a large one.--Steve

1911 categories

I think these pages are turning out well, good job. One modification that I would suggest though (for both the pages and the template) is reversing the order of the categories. I think the "Standard" guns should really go first because, as the name implies, they are the standard gun and are also probably the most common. I would put the order as "Standard", "Long", "Compact", "Subcompact". Also, I'm not sure about how the Colt variants are categorised on the template. I think they should just be split on size like the other manufacturers for a few reasons. First, it would then be a standard and look better. Secondly, the modern thing is kind of screwed up, with the 80 Combat Elite being from the same time as the regular series 80, and the National Match going back to the Series 70 guns. Also the Military/Governemnt differentiation seems a bit pointless to me, as I would imaging that most of the guns that actually appear in media are based on the civillian guns and the majority of the M1911A1 ID's are actually wrong. To be honest, I think there is a case that the M1919A1, Government and Series 70 sections could probably be merged, as they are the same gun with no visible external differences unless you get a really good look at the markings. --commando552 16:11, 16 June 2012 (CDT)

Re:Redirects

Yes, I understand. I'll follow your recommendations. Thanks! Greg-Z 10:17, 22 June 2012 (CDT)

Misfits

Great minds think alike. --Funkychinaman 17:16, 27 June 2012 (CDT)

Wrong Turn

I wouldn't spend any more time working on a template for that series as the user you started these pages doesn't seem to want to put any more effort into it. --Ben41 20:38, 22 June 2012 (CDT)

Re:AK

Hi. It depends on what kind of page are you working on. I know some stuff about original Russian AK's. Will try to help of course. - bozitojugg3rn4ut 01:41, 24 June 2012 (CDT)

So how you want to do this template? Include only true AK-pattern guns (like on wikipedia), or include guns like the VSS too, which only look like AK variants, but in reality have nothing to do with that design? --bozitojugg3rn4ut 14:06, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

I would separate them along similar lines as the AK gallers, with "Soviet manufactured Kalashnikov pattern firearms" "Foreign manufactured Kalashnikov pattern firearms" "Firearms derived from the Kalashnikov" and "Firearms visually resembling the Kalashnikov". First section would be the russian weapons, separated into assault rifles, carbines, machine guns and sniper rifles. Then next section would be split up by country. Not sure whether to split each section by weapon type or not, would need to play it by ear depending on how many you were ending up with. If not splitting by type, could put the weapon type in brackets after the name. It gets a bit tricky when you get into AK derived, and visually resembling the AK as there can be a fine line. For example, the I would put the SVD in the visually similar, as it shares no parts with the AK and has a different operating system. However the visually similar FPK/PSL is derived from the RPK, so would go in the AK derivatives section. Stuff like the Valmet (and hence the Galil and Vektor rifles) would go in the derivatives section, as although not of the AK pattern they are a modification to the design. But that's just my opinion on how it should be broken down. --commando552 15:23, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

Congrats!

I see you already started clearing out the delete bin. --Funkychinaman 13:28, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

Congrats as well! Now you can have a good time deleting spambots! --Ben41 01:31, 27 June 2012 (CDT)

Abe and ARs

Yes, it did, but I think it sort of sets a bad precedent for some new user to start a page with one line as his first edit and have the rest of us build it unto a full page. (It was literally one line.) But oh well, what's done is done. As for the templates, I have to admit, I'm not sure I know what I'm doing with them. I added Barry Nelson to the James Bond template over the weekend, but that took a lot of copying and pasting and trial and error. --Funkychinaman 13:32, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

I'll add it if I come across it. I'm sweeping across the site right now, looking for bad pages and killing dead actors. --Funkychinaman 13:43, 26 June 2012 (CDT)
You think I should? The people here seem to love zombies. --Funkychinaman 13:49, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

Congrats

Remember with great power comes great power. Wait, I don't think that's it.

Also I'd have called that maintainance script Gunbot or Tank, personally. Evil Tim 14:36, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

Generic placeholder

Hmmm, let me brainstorm a bit. --Funkychinaman 20:53, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

Congrats and can you delete these?

Congratulations on becoming admin and Ive seen that you were clearing out the delete bin so I was wondering if you could delete the pictures I uploaded a while ago you can find them on my Contributions page. Thanks. Mr.Ice 14:05, 27 June 2012 (CDT)

The Nosferatu page

Hi there, I was the creator of the Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi page. I noticed that you recently nuked it and left a note saying "Creator refuses to finish . . . " I haven't abandoned the IMFDB by any means, but have been busy with real life thus far. Maybe you could tell me what specifically was wrong with it? Last I worked on the page, it was essentially complete by the IMFDB standards of the time. Have they drastically changed in the meantime? --Mazryonh 01:13, 28 June 2012 (CDT)

Sure, if you tell me what's missing. I do not currently have access to the game disc right now, but at last count the page was, in my view, essentially finished--all the ingame weapons had both 3rd-person and 1st Person views, and had (where possible) references to the real-life weapons they were based on. What's missing from the page according to the IMFDB standards now? --Mazryonh 03:39, 28 June 2012 (CDT)

RSP

Maybe you should clarify that reality television is in the same boat as documentaries? --Funkychinaman 09:13, 28 June 2012 (CDT)

Looks good. (And I call dibs on slapping the nuke tag on any future Jersey Shore pages!) --Funkychinaman 10:41, 28 June 2012 (CDT)

CZ 40, 97 etc.

But surely appear. Great future is for this weapon! Otherwise - CZ products i´m complemented and there is need this types.--Pandolfini 20:02, 28 June 2012 (CDT) The text is just a selection of several books, nothing is there does not even start of production. Like I said - i want only CZ products supplementary to the database, nothing more. I originally took the view that the Kajínek used CZ 40 and not CZ Pre75 . So we'll see. CZ 97 certainly somewhere there is, just poorly defined or does not know just because it's missing. This often happens to me - i looking for a gun and find in catalog of proucts (Smit&Wesso, CZ, Mauser rifles etc.) or cathegory (submachine guns, pistols etc.)--Pandolfini 20:17, 28 June 2012 (CDT) "A gun must appear in something before it gets a page!" Here - CZ And what product catalog of products company? After all serves to navigate and search, it does not count?--Pandolfini 20:23, 28 June 2012 (CDT) So this means that even in categories is not listed weapons which were not in the movie or game? So that means in practice that to appear, so it will have to laboriously re-do. Plus We ascribe the extra the lost hour of work today due to the technicality that resulted from a irationaly reasons. Or no?--Pandolfini 20:32, 28 June 2012 (CDT) Me was so weird was that when I first needed a CZ 38 for movie Atentát, i were cannot find this gun here, because were missing. I could not understand such a failure. Now I understand - this was and is due to imperfect standards.--Pandolfini 21:02, 28 June 2012 (CDT) I found the passage where it was and I know error and how it is done correctly. Thank you.--Pandolfini 01:46, 29 June 2012 (CDT)

Templates

I was going to ask you about that. The AR template is going to be huge, and would take up most of the space on the smaller AR entries. --Funkychinaman 09:58, 29 June 2012 (CDT)

the next if kin page

yes i was planning to do that page but i need the names of the guns that was used in the film if you can sir.
