The Sopranos

Great job on the Sopranos page! There are some small mistakes with the Glocks (some 19s in 17s sections etc.) but the page is very thorough and well made. Keep up the good work. - Gunmaster45

Yeah, this page is very nice and thorough. However, pretty much all of the Glocks you have IDed as -17s are actually 19s. Also, I have posted a picture of one of the "unidentified pistols" - it's not a real gun. -MT2008 02:10, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
No problem. Also, it looks like quite a few episodes of this show feature some of the other Non Guns. I think one of the SIGs may be a Non Gun, too. -MT2008 04:53, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

The Sting

EXCELLENT job on the screengrabs for the Sting. Usually the general picture size on the pages is 500px, which I think should be the case since the members should be able to fully enjoy your crisp clear screengrabs. Usually we don't have 600px or higher since it looks too big on monitors which are 1024x768 (and believe it or not there are still smaller monitors on 800x600 settings). 500 seems to be the standard that most pages ended up with. I hope you don't mind if I upgrade your screengrab sizes to 500 px (from the 400 px you have). They are excellent images and deserve to be enjoyed in their 'larger' size. :) regards MoviePropMaster2008 23:48, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

The Godfather

Great job with The Godfather, the page really needed to be done. It looks great. - Gunmaster45

Thanks for the note

Yes, I was freaking out a bit on Dillinger and didn't know how to tell you since you did so much hard work. I personally try not to put more than four images (sometimes up to seven or eight) But the shots must be completely different or show another character. I also only put more than a few shots if the weapon is hard to see and several different angles will make it easier to identify (but I only do that with fantasy, custom or unusual weapons. I think everyone already knows what an M1911 looks like from every angle.) I feel bad about bringing it up. I know that some of us slammed Gunmaster45 previously for some of the extensive screengrabbing on his pages (poor guy). The problem is that it's a matter of preference. I prefer the pages to be concise and educational, and tend to think that too many images will being to make the viewer's eyes blur and you start making them lose interest. I tend to think that we DON'T need to see every single instance of the weapon's appearance in a film, but listing them in the description is fine. Twenty shots of the M1928 thompson on Dillinger set a dubious record of the most amount of 'overkill' on a weapon section on a movie page :) hahahahaha. One has to consider when the viewer will just get bored with the page and move on. Don't want that to happen. I've been wanting IMFDB to adopt a uniform code or rules for posting, but the number of screengrabs tends to change with the movie or page. Sometimes less is more. Sometimes you need more pics to make the point. But we must all be careful to NOT overdo it. This is my own standard, mind you, but I would limit screengrabs to less than eight (8) if there is no important new information that can be gleaned from more pics. There is also the issues of slow loading for new users and overtaxing of the servers. Hope this helps. I was venting to MT2008 since I was also seeing a trend with some of the other users and was concerned that we still don't have a uniform 'code' or template for the pages to guide newer members. best regards. MoviePropMaster2008 07:49, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

IMO, if a user gets bored after viewing 11 or so screenshots, they should be taking ritalin. After maybe 25 or so, then it is getting tedious. Great work with Dillinger. I've limited myself to ten or so screenshots, and like MPM they are usually different people in different scenes. At the rate you are screencapping movies, you could soon be among us as an admin. But put some info on your profile so your name isn't written in red. It looks like you're more serious if your name is in bright blue. And with The Getaway (1972), I changed the (movie) thing to a date because that's what we do when there are several versions of something with the same name. And I recomend you replace Rafa's images with your own, your's are much better quality. - Gunmaster45
I'm glad to see you added info to your page. Would you like me to protect your page from any anonymous users who might feel compelled to vandalize it? - Gunmaster45
You're protected. Now only registered users can even touch your page. - Gunmaster45

The Untouchables

Great job, that page has needed some screencaps for quite some time. I wish I was getting more done, I've been busy with other stuff lately. Hopefully I will finish season 2 of Mail Call and work on some of the movies on my list soon. - Gunmaster45

You got all the shotguns right this time. You just needed some corrections on the revolvers. Good job. - Gunmaster45

Re: Bourne Identity

That's OK if you can't get a good picture of Conklin's gun, but at least take the best shots you can find, and then put down "Unknown semi-automatic pistol" and explain that the lighting conditions make it difficult to tell what it is.

Also, you forgot another gun...the automatic weapon used by the guy in the safehouse who's shooting at Bourne from several floors down. I'm pretty sure it was a SIG SG-552, though I had trouble telling without being able to pause the TV. -MT2008 21:22, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: Bourne Supremacy

People have been saying it's a WA2000 for years. The IMDB page used to say it was a WA2000 until I edited it. But you can't believe what you read on the 'net all the time, I'm afraid. People mis-ID guns all the time. That's why IMFDB has to be better than the average site. My guess, which I put on the page, is that it might be a Keppeler & Fritz precision rifle, though I can't say I'm at all positive about that.

Also, there's another gun from this movie that you forgot about...when the CIA team is going to Jarda's house, there's a shot inside the car where one of them is loading a Micro Uzi. Might wanna grab that one, too.

Thanks if you can get the new screenshots of the SL8 and the P99. Also, don't forget about the ones from The Bourne Identity (2002)! -MT2008 06:05, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Thunderball shotgun

At first it looks like a Remington 870 (I can't guarantee it is a Wingmaster, but it looks like one and fits the 60s time era). In the last two screenshots, it is a Browning A5 sporting shotgun. Google has pretty piss poor images of it, I'll ask MPM if he has one in his armory. I ought to be able to ID these shotguns, they are two of my favorite. :) - Gunmaster45

Tomorrow Never Dies

Nice job on Tomorrow Never Dies! I did make some corrections, though, in case you want to look 'em over. -MT2008 17:40, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

We actually have a picture of a fake MP5K-PDW under the MP5 page. It's the one right above the picture of the real MP5K-PDW that you posted. -MT2008 01:50, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Badlands

You were right the first time. The user made an inappropriate change. The preferred size for thumbnails on a page is 500px. Though it could be 600px if the image is a widescreen pic, but 300 is too small. MoviePropMaster2008 08:56, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

A and AN

As far as titles, I am just going by the standard sorting standard utilized by places like Hollywood Video or Blockbuster or Netflix. I don't think we need to change the "a" and "An" titles since there aren't that many. As you can see, we had TONS of "the" titles, which when sorted in the video catalogs is done with the "the" at the end. Thanks. MoviePropMaster2008 03:30, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

You're now a Sysop, Congrats!

Gunmaster45 recommended you for an admin position as a thank you for all of your hard work screencapping - I agreed with him. Thanks for all of your contributions to the community, enjoy your new privileges. bunni 00:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Congratulations!

Welcome to the club! I hope you didn't infer from my conversations with Gunmaster45 that I didn't want you to be an Admin. I was just talking in generalities about the membership as a whole, noting that we must be careful, since we've been very lucky so far in that we have had admins that all get along with each other and all operate from the same template as far as how the site should look. You fit that bill! So Welcome aboard! Now you will have the task of also policing for idiotic weird stuff that people put in at random! Just like Wikipedia! hahahaha. best regards MoviePropMaster2008 21:11, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

BTW, You've done an excellent job so far. Don't know if I ever said that! :) MPM2008

Spoilers

Well for the record, I'm totally against spoilers. IMDB (the movie site) also has a policy that if a member reveals a spoiler without warning people, their accounts will be suspended. On IMFDB.org (our site) I've seen people put in ridiculous amounts of information that really has nothing to do with identifying the gun. If a person has SEEN the movie, then they will know what scene the gun appears in with well written "Generic" information. If a person has NOT SEEN the movie, then their viewing pleasure will not be destroyed. I remember a long time ago, (don't remember the movie) where someone was talking about a gun, and revealed some sort of double twist (the killer turns out to be imaginary, a fictional persona in the mind of the hero who is actually the serial killer himself ... something like that .... ) and I thought "WTF?!?!?!" That ruins the entire MYSTERY of the movie since all throughout the film we're trying to figure out who the killer is. That spoiler was outrageous. And it had NOTHING to do with the guns people were carrying. So yes, SPOILERS, IMHO are frowned upon, not just in the IMFDB community but the movie fan community as a whole. If a gun reveal also puts out a spoiler that is unavoidable (which is RARE but it happens) then a spoiler warning at the top of the page is needed. But by all means. Some of these anonymous users are 12 year olds who may not have the world experience to know what is not appropriate, so that is the job of the ADMIN/MOD. Hope this helps. MoviePropMaster2008 21:33, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

You might get a kick out of this

Would YOU want a handgun collection like this? The pistols on the right side belong to Syd Stembridge (he still has some stuff), and the back wall and left wall belong to Mike Papac. (And yes, the boxes on the ground are full, there is no room on the walls left. All the empty slots are for handguns that are either out for repair or out on rental. My own handgun inventory is less than half of theirs, so I'm a small fry compared to these guys. But I thought you'd get a kick out of this pic. A similar pic has been seen in articles in the past about Stembridge Gun Rentals, so it's nice to see that this room still exists, though I need a bigger wide angle lens, I can't get back far enough to even get a fraction of the room. It is massive.

Imagine if you will.......

Walking down a hallway in a warehouse, from floor to ceiling are wooden cubbyholes, in these cubby holes are jammed multiple items which comprise three specific things (either submachine gun, select fire pistol, or short barreled shotgun). I am not sure how these items are sorted but I don't care, I like it! I LOVE poking around places like this. It make me happy :) I also see some items which I will try to photograph for IMFDB in the future (recognizing some of the stuff that I have on my list to take pics of for some of the specific movie pages). I just needed to cheer myself up after hearing daily news from the new administration! Just thought I'd share it! :)

File:ArmoryWall02.jpg
Which cubbyhole do you want to stick your hand in first!? ;)

Re: Young Guns

Thanks, I had that movie in my DVD pile too long. I included the image of the real Billy the Kid because that was taken on a tin slab (and is reversed when printed on the slab), so I thought the movie picture was WAY off. Now I'm doing all my Eastwood films, starting with Dirty Harry. It's harder than I thought it would be so far, some of the guns are very hard to catch. Hopefully the other DH films will be easier. BTW, excellent work yourself, I like how you've covered all the Bond films, now this site has one more genre (a huge one too) to brag about ownning. Keep up the good work. - Gunmaster45

Patton Up Next?

Just saw you upload the DVD cover fot Patton, does this mean it's going to be your next screencap project? I saw part of it earlier today on AMC, and the page for it here is in pretty sorry shape to say the least. Orca1 9904 05:49, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Nice Work

Patton came out great, excellent work. I originally came here to discuss something else though. I was scanning over random pages and The Godfather came up, and I remembered a gun that you missed. When Pacino is in Italy walking with the other guys carrying shotguns, American soldiers drive by in a jeep and one of them has a Thompson, I believe it was an M1A1. Not that its a big deal, but if you feel like going back to check, I'd appreciate it. I don't own the movie myself, I just rented it a few times.

Another thing, I bought the Untouchables recently and if it's okay with you, I was gonna add some Star B shots and clean up the differences between them and the 1911s, because Costner actually used the B a lot in the start of the film, before the raid where he finds umbrellas. If you'd rather do it though, feel free. I wouldn't be doing it for a while anyway since I'm still working on the Dirty Harry movies. Again, great work and keep it up. - Gunmaster45

TWINE (wierd acronym) came out great, I made some corrections. I'm gonna keep working on Magnum Force now, I started it last night but didn't finish it. How many Bond films are left now to do?
BTW, do you have Casino Royale in your collection (or Quantum or Solace yet)? Because even though I personally feel those films kind of killed classic Bond, they are still considered Bond films and the pages could use some work. Those movies took away the gadgets, and the general coolness of Bond IMO. Bond doesn't chase free-runners through construction sites, he finds a tank and follows him whilst destroying things in the process. And Bond was almost poisoned and had to be saved by the girl using the defibrilator. Bond shouldn't need saving, he's Bond! Now Bond is using his PPK again, so instead of making Bond more high-tech, their taking him back (???) to his really old habits. I bet Walther is pissed their new PPS isn't Bond's new gun, since Walther's been advertizing their guns in Bond films since the beginning. And the gadgets have always been my favorite part of the Bond movies, so until they bring in a Q to the new Bond series, I won't be interested. ;) - Gunmaster45
Unfortunately I didn't get Magnum Force done yet but that's because I've been catching up on screencapping Flashpoint, which is a pain in the ass because I can't fast forward and have to watch 40 minutes just to get 6 measly caps. Anyway, I'll be staying up as late as I want because it's friday and I can, so I'll still probably get MF done tonight. I look forward to seeing more of your work, as always you do an excellent job. - Gunmaster45

Thanks

Thank you good sir. Rockwolf66

RE:

Yeah, I double checked, it is a CZ-82 in all the shots. - Gunmaster45

It would be the CZ-82/CZ-83 pistol series, since the guns are basically the same, although some 83s have squared trigger guards (the 83 is the civilian export, the 82 is the military pistol). A woman is seen using one in XXX and MPM took a picture of one, but I don't think he did a CZ-82. Apparently proper designation from the Czech military is "vz. 82", but I personally think CZ-82/CZ-83 is fine. - Gunmaster45
Glad I could help. - Gunmaster45

Scarface talk page

Actually I agree with the poster who cleared the talk page. That discussion was way before the page was even remotely worked on, and the discussion isn't even relevant to the movie page as it is now. To keep the old discussion, for what it was, is a bit confusing. I wasn't the one who cleared the contents of the page, but I agree with it. Let me know what you think. :) best regards MoviePropMaster2008 03:47, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Dukes of Hazzard, The (TV series)

Nice job on the Dukes page. The prop house I worked at Ellis Mercantile supplied all the weapons and props for the show. - Phoenixent

Thanks

Thanks for the compliments on the Bionic Woman page. I've screencapped the entire show, but are rotating which pages I am updating, just so I don't get burned out on any one page.

As a side note, I finally got an email response from the effects house that did the guns for Starship Troopers, Space Above & Beyond, Star Trek Voyager and Babylon Five. I might be able to get high quality custom pics of these fabricated weapons for IMFDB, which would be pretty cool, since IMFDB would (again) be the only place to have the pics. I've known these guys for decades, but trying to get them to commit to taking the time out for a photo shoot of prop weapons has been a REAL CHORE. :) best regards MPM2008

Re: Old movies

Hey Speakeasy, Thanks for the compliment on the old movies that I have posted. So the master are bad that I use shadows and run them through Photoshop just to ID the weapon but can not use the image on IMFDB because of condition. I will check out the others that you have posted during the week. I am getting ready to screencap the Thin Man series of movies. Let me know if you help Id'ing a weapon and I will check it out. - Steve

bourne=

awesome work on the original bourne movie! it was about time. I wonder if the sniper has a ruger mini 14 in a factory folder stock with 'junk' stuck to it. I love how those old lasers sights were so BULKY! MoviePropMaster2008 16:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: Memento

Ah, damn it, you got me! Haha. Yeah, I failed to notice that it doesn't have a double-stack frame. Good eyes.

If it doesn't have a double-stack frame, then it's most likely a S&W 4556 in .45 ACP. We don't have a page for that gun yet (maybe I should make one), but you can find a picture of one on the page for Collateral. -MT2008 03:36, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and make a page for the 4556. If it's appeared in two well-known movies, then it deserves one. -MT2008 03:47, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:Inside Man

Maybe, but some of them, it's hard to tell for sure. The only thing I can say is that if the gun has a milled receiver, it's probably a regular AK-47, while Type 56s can be distinguished if you see the front sight and it's circular. -MT2008 03:04, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I take back what I said earlier. I've looked more closely, and now I'm not so sure there are ANY Type 56s in this picture. As best I can tell now, upon closer inspection, they are all original AK-47s. -MT2008 03:34, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry; I made the same mistake myself. One of them really does appear to have the Chinese-style front sight, but then I looked closer and realized it didn't. -MT2008 03:41, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:Taurus Model 66 in Pulp Fiction

Hey Speak, It's a Taurus Model 66 in the photos. I prep all the guns for Pulp Fiction when I worked at Ellis Mercantile. The propmaster rented the Taurus along with the other guns for the show. Hope this ends the debate but it will probably keep going. - Steve

Hey Speak, Nice Job on Pulp Fiction. I am doing setups right know for some more B&W movies should be ready by the weekend. Posted the Thin Man Series already check it out. - Steve
Hey Speak, The Ingram is a MAC-10 in 9mm also known as a Ingram M10 most call it a MAC-10. They were built in both .45 ACP and 9mm that one is 9mm as are 95% of the MAC-10's in the film industry. The Model 36 that is listed is actually a 1952 Centennial Model hammerless with a grip safety. The correct model number for it is Smith & Wesson Model 40 - Steve
Hey Speak, You are going to shoot me on this one.:) The Taurus was bothering me so I went to a friend of mine that could get me copies of the rental sheets for Pulp Fiction issued by Ellis. The Taurus is a Model 689 6 shot .357 magnum not a Model 66 like I thought. Sorry about that I will fix the page now. - Steve
Oh well I can't win them all. HAHAHA. I had John Travolta in the shop at Ellis showing him how the Star Model B works. Working on some more B&W movies hope to have them up next week. - Steve

Scarface (1932)

Hey Speak, I checked out the photo of the arsenal and here is the id's for the weapons.

Handguns on left wall Top to Bottom- Colt 1911,Colt New Service,Colt 1902 Pistol,Colt New Service,Colt Official Police.
The weapons rack left or right- Colt 1921A Thompson,Winchester 1987 Shotgun,Colt 1921A Thompson,Winchester 1987 Shotgun,Colt 1921A Thompson,Winchester 1987 Shotgun.

Also can you check the film to see if there is a clear shot of Cesca with that .22 rifle in her hand in the same scene.- Steve

RE: Deadwood

I don't know if I would consider myself a pro but I've been looking at the page and you appeared to do a decent job. I recommend you group all the SAAs into one group though, since the only difference is barrel length (and it is Cavalary, not Cavalry ;) ).

I'll be uploading Joe Kidd on Friday or so because I've had the caps saved since tuesday and still haven't WATCHED the movie (I screencapped for guns, didn't have the sound on!) So if I uploaded I'd have to guess everyone's names, which is a real pain. Lot of rare firearms in that film, more than your standard selection in most westerns. The writer must have been a gun buff. - Gunmaster45

Hey Speak, Nice page on Deadwood covers a lot of weapons not like the old westerns were they might have six different weapons on the whole show.- Steve
I'll take a look at the Deadwood page in a second, I just have to finish adding SAA pics to the Two Mules for Sister Sara page. - Gunmaster45

Clint Eastwood and others

Yeah, organizing them might make them look a little better. But make sure sequels are together, etc., etc. - Gunmaster45

Three Days of the Condor

Hey Speak, I was looking over your page for Three Days of the Condor. Could you get a screen cap of the suppressed 1911A1 pistol used by Wicks? It would fill that out nicely. - Steve

Hey Speak, I don't know about any other guns in the movie since I have not watched it in a long time. I just came across it by working on a new project it post.- Steve

Memorial Photos

thanks for the compliment. It's actually been enjoyable going through all the photos. Call it a labor of love.--Jcordell 04:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Weapons Page Layout

Hey Speak, If you what to go ahead and dig in. The Daewoo K3 has the latest update on the layout and I will update the Test page with the correct spacing and wording. Thanks -Steve

Standardize Template Layout

Hi, As we are moving forward with the new layout on the Guns and Actors pages. We need to finalize a standard layout for the Template. We have been changing gun pages over and they do look better but everyone has their own style. Dates for instance some are on the right side some on the left, some have the most current movie at the top and some have the oldest. Then we have other issues like the headers are different from one poster to another. We need to fix these issues now before we have a ton of double work to do. Please give you feedback on pages completed like the M1911 pistol series and the Steyr AUG so we can have a standard on these pages. Thanks - Phoenixent

Template

To the mods: Though my own preference is strongly towards chronological order, I can accede to the wishes of the majority. I do like the format of Title First, before actor. Please note all, in the Steyr AUG page that the title, then character, then actor template, dovetails nicely into the other genres (television) but also Anime and Video games. Since there is no Character in some and no Actor in Anime or Videgame, I think this order maintains the same look from Film all the way down to VG. Thanks and please look at the page to see what I was referring to. Thanks again and I look forward to your input on this matter. MoviePropMaster2008 04:31, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Updated Template

Thanks to everyone for the response. I have changed the first entry in the 1911 page to a blend of both mine, MPM and MT2008 which looks very nice right now. As to the other suggestions on lines for each entry I have posted samples at Talk:Test Template Page. The third sample looks the best as in not quite as busy as the others. The colors can be changed to a lighter gray or blue if that need to be changed to make it a little more eye appealing. It looks like we are getting close to a standard on this pretty quick. As for added actors using the same weapon I have always included them on the listing instead of trying to place multiple actors on one entry that way it has less clutter. Thanks on your input on this. - Phoenixent

Public Enemies

Check out the Public Enemies page, I added a few HD screencaps you might like. I plan on seeing this opening day so if you don't I'll let you know how it is. This looks like an epic movie to screencap. To think of it, I've tackled two Mann films now (Collateral and Heat), and am seaking out Thief to do. I'm a major Mann fan. That sounds wrong... :) - Gunmaster45

Fight to the death? ;) I wish there was a way for us both to screencap it too, but I guess I'll let you do it. You know more about the people and the situations than I do and I've already done two Mann films already (and working on three), so it's all yours. Have fun. :) Just make sure you replace the HD trailer images with DVD images in full, DVD always looks better. - Gunmaster45
I'll be sure to watch Dillinger (1973) sometime. John Millius is a pretty good director, he seems pretty familiar with firearms too. I'm going to do some studying on Dillinger and Purvis so I know a little more about the two films' accuracy. I'll be seeing Public Enemies with my friends (it's my 4 day late Birthday party), so it'll suck that I can't talk guns with them, they are all clueless on that stuff. - Gunmaster45
I'll look for that book, I've been looking for something good to read lately. I read up on Dillinger and Purvis and now I'm annoyed that Dillinger's death is such a mystery. I don't know what to believe! And Purvis... I don't know if I should root for him or not since he is shown as both a good guy and a bad guy. One side shows a man who worked hard to bring down public enemies, the other shows a man who gave local authorities little credit and gunned down Dillinger in cold blood. It seems to be a debatable topic, but when it comes to the FBI, what isn't? Thanks for wishing me a happy birthday, I'll be 16 on the 27th. I can finally drive! - Gunmaster45

Re:And Then There Were None

Hey Speak, Not a problem on that one I don't think I have that in my library. I am working on screen caps for The Killing and The Big Heat right now. Thanks for asking. - Steve 01:28, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

What did you think?

Did you like Public Enemies? I thought it was great although Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd died after Dillinger (that's creative liscense for you, but hey, it didn't hurt the story). I don't want to edit and get editing conflicts with you so I'll tell you some guns used in the film I saw:

  • The Michigan City prison guards fire Winchester 1892 rifles at Dillinger and his men. A citizen hits Dillinger in the shoulder when firing one from a window. It was during the bank robbery that Nelson botched and went crazy on.
  • Prison guards at Michigan City prison use M1903A3 rifles (Remingtons I believe), one of which is used to kill one of Dillinger's friends, who he is forced to leave behind. US soldiers use them as well.
  • Winchester 1897 shotguns are carried by FBI agents and police. When Billy Frachette is captured by the FBI, one of them is carrying a "Trench" model with a heat shield and bayonet lug.
  • Some FBI agents carry Browning A5s (or Remington Model 11s). Some carried sawed off models too.
  • US soldiers are seen manning a Browning M1917 Water Cooled machine gun when Dillinger nervously waits at the red light after escaping Crown Point prison in Indiana.
  • Dillinger takes a Colt revolver from the Crown Point prison armory, I think it was a Police Positive but I couldn't see it very long. Other Colt revolvers are also hanging on the armory racks.
  • The fat FBI agent who charges Dillinger outside the Biograph theater is using what looks like a Colt Official Police. Other people are also seen firing them as well, like during the first jail break in Michigan city (they could have been Police Positives too).

I missed some things I thought maybe you could clear up. Did Purvis fire more rounds than his 1911 could hold when gunning down BF Nelson, because by the time he was done unloading, I forgot to count. I have to hand it to Christian Bale, he didn't blink once when firing that gun. I think Purvis' 1911 may have been a .38 super model. And during the first bank robbery, there is a VERY excellent side shot of an M1921 Thompson. :) - Gunmaster45

Nah, you didn't ramble. I believe nickel 1911s were available in all calibers at the time and not just .38 Super. BTW, I'm trying to convince my dad to help me build the Dillinger machine pistol (even if it isn't full auto), so if I ever get that done I'll let you know. And like your friends, my friends were very confused as well. - Gunmaster45
Depp appeared to actually field strip the weapon. You see him take apart the upper and lower and then it closes in on his hands as he removes the bolt and springs. He says the gun jammed twice on him because a spring coil was messed up, but I don't think that would affect anything at all. Likely he just needed to clean it. The IMDB thread is very fascinating, but real life kind of sucks when it comes to these events. Dillinger may not have said "Bye-bye Black Bird" as he died, but it was a sad and romantic ending (I mean, he was living with a prostitute and a new girlfriend, did he even give a damn about Billie at that point?), and Purvis may not have met with Dillinger in Tuscon, but it is the classic confrontation seen in Michael Mann films (like Pacino and DeNiro sitting together in the diner in Heat). Now, about the Machine Pistol. I have no idea how I would attach the Thompson foregrip (I'd assume you'd have to drill through the frame to mount it), I assume I could modify a 1911 compensator to look more like the Cutts comp on the pistol, since I don't know how to fit a Cutts comp on a 1911, and no way in HELL will it be in .38 Super. That round is rare and expensive. .45 is the obvious choice, but 9mm fascinates me, I may look into this. And if I still own the gun when I'm older and get a Class III liscense, I'm making it full auto. :) - `~~

The Illusionist

Im not a member here, but big fan of the pages, and noticed the revolver in the Illusionist is identified as a Mle. 1873 Chamelot Delvigne. It very clearly is not, so i went ahead and edited the page in text, but of course, i have no idea what im doing, how to format such edits, or, to the point, what the revolver is. But i can tell you it isnt a Mle 1873, evidenced by its fluted cylinder, barrel profile, blueing, front sight, ejector setup and the stud on the front of the trigger guard. and i didnt want anyone to be confused by it, so i did edit it, with the hope that someone smarter than i would see it and clean it up. If i figure out what it is, ill be sure to let you know.

EDIT: Same annon. After looking, i believe the revolver in question is a later civilian marketed variation of the Hungarian 1876 Gasser-Kropatschek revolver. I cant find the exact variation that is pictured, as there were many of them at the time, but i think the distincive shape and style of the ejection rod, as well as the full octogonal profile and the distinctive stud on the front of the trigger guard make this the most likely candidate, and my material does state that the civilian model did come with fluted cylinders. It isnt a particularily common revolver, it would be interesting to hear why it was chosen, as well as the history of that particular gun, and how the armorer found it.

Here is what little material i was able to find online, though the model pictured is an earlier military model. http://www.sunblest.net/gun/Gass76.htm Hope that is of some help you you.

Re: Sound Effects

I don't know any good ones, but for the movie I'm making I'm having a computer whiz rip sound from movies like Heat, since they sound the most realistic. My best guess to help you out is to scour google until all sources are gone. If you find a good one, let me know, I could use some sound too. Good luck and sorry I couldn't be more help. - Gunmaster45

RE:Armorer Pages

Eh, I don't know. Maybe we could make make a "Armorers of the Industry" page, but seperate pages would be a lot. Since armorers are rarely linked to their own pages (aside from occassional credit link for something such as firearms training, armorers usually don't have film roles). One example is Al Vrkljan, who is a Canadian armorer who has had several cameo roles in movies. He actually joined the forum recently. - Gunmaster45

It's not a terrible idea, but it really does depend on their own input. Remember that while Steve and Al didn't mind giving us their real names, not all of the armorers will feel the same way. Some of them prefer anonymity and remaining behind-the-scenes, due to the weapons-unfriendly environment of Hollywood. -MT2008 23:14, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Template Layout

Hi Everyone, Now that I am back let's talk about the page layout template. On the forum we had one item brought up about the chronological order being reversed. Also another item was brought up about putting lies or boxing in the information. As admin it is up to us to police the site and make a decision that is agreed upon by the majority of admins and then implemented. Let's all go back to the Talk:Test Template Page and nail these last issues down. As we talk about it pages have been created and might need to be corrected so there is a standard look to all the gun and actor pages. Thanks for you input and help on the. - Phoenixent

Hill Street Blues

I just wanted to say that you've been doing an excellent job on the Hill Street Blues page! It's coming along very nicely thanks to your efforts. -Gunman69 17:53, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

No problem! I've actually been trying to find re-runs of the show on TV but I haven't been able to find any. You'd think with such a popular show that it would be on TV more, but I guess not lol. -Gunman69 19:43, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey, do you think you could get a shot of Lt. Hunter's Python? I ask because remember how it was previously identified as a S&W Model 29? Then it was changed to a Python because he refers to it as .357 Magnum. Well I thought about it, and it could be a S&W Model 28. It's essentially the same as a 29 but in .357 Magnum. Anyway, a picture of it would help to identify it. Even if it's just in the holster, I could identify it by the grips. Thanks! -Gunman69 01:20, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, post it on my talk page and I'll check it out. Regarding the Hi-Power, I didn't really notice any difference between it and the 1911. I think it's a 1911 because it's what all other EATer's use (except Hunter of course). I know a lot of times character weapons change between seasons (Miami Vice is a good example), but that doesn't appear to be the case in HSB. Most characters keep the same weapons. If you come up with a new shot of an EATer using a Hi-Power, then we ought to change it back. But for now, I think it's a 1911, so is it OK if I change it? Regarding the MK IV Series 70, I guess I didn't notice the grips on it. You're probably right, so I'll delete my comment. Thank YOU for creating an HSB page! It's a great show and I'm glad to help. And yes, Miami Vice has been pretty busy. It's the biggest page on IMFDB. Would you happen to know what TV show has the most firearms? We currently have 100 and I was curious. I know we just took 2nd place, bypassing The Unit.-Gunman69 02:36, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Se7en Spoilers

Thanks, I'm being lazy but I'll get Se7en done soon enough. I got woke up early today to dig trees with my dad so I'm kind of tired.

And as for spoilers, I was scouring the net to find those blockers you see on IMDB that disapear when you hover over words to reveal spoilers, but I couldn't find ones for wikipedia. Then I realized I could turn the letters white and voila! I think we could run back and fix some pages with this, but it can only go so far (like on Wanted, you can white out the letters all you want but Cross is clearly dying in the pictures). I'm seeing if anyone on the forum can find something like the spoiler hiders I was looking for, so this is just something I'm trying out. Hopefully it can be perfected and used in the future. I wonder if spoiler blockers could block images too, which would fix that problem as well... - Gunmaster45

Re: Beverly Hills Cop

Thanks! It was my first time screencapping a page, and I wasn't sure how I did, so I really appreciate it! -Gunman69 03:37, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the B&W Actor pages but.....

Please complete the page being that many of them are deceased. Many of these actors from films in the 1930s-1950s are already passed on. I've been putting in the (DOB-DOD) and added the Category:Deceased Actor (others did it, but now it seems like I'm the only one continuing the discipline of separating living actors from dead ones, and it would help my efforts immensely if others put the date of passing details (please check out the Category of Deceased Actor to see the format). Thanks again. MPM2008 I am passing this note on to other members of IMFDB who put together actor pages for deceased actors so that I don't have to be the only one doing it. :) Great work! BTW

Hi standard group pic

Hi there Speakeasy804. Actually we didn't put that pic on the page intentionally because we got yelled at for copyright infringement for that pic. :) Thanks. MoviePropMaster2008 20:33, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

NICE WORK on Entourage!

You have some nice screencapping skills! :) Clear and sharp! MoviePropMaster2008 07:27, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Foxy brown

Hey SpeakEasy804! :) I don't think that's Baby Browning. It's a Bauer .25 Automatic. I got a pic of the screen used gun :) I will find it and upload it later. LOL! :) MoviePropMaster2008 07:22, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Dang, and I just uploaded a "Baby Browning" picture.-protoAuthor 07:27, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

The Getaway (1972)

Help. I need your help. I noticed that you did the excellent job of screencapping the Getaway. I got the shotgun that Steve McQueen used in the film. Woohoo!

High Standard FLITE KING K-1200 Riot Standard Model (Catalog #8111) - 12 gauge. This is the screen used shotgun, held by Steve McQueen in the film The Getaway (1972).

In the film there is a closeup of the OTHER side of the shotgun (the flip side of the photo I have on the page) in which the viewer can see two small numbers stamped into the receiver. Can you screencap that closeup of the shotgun? I took closeups of the Screen used shotgun's side with the two numbers stamped on it to prove that it is the same gun. thanks so much and I hope you can do it. best regards MoviePropMaster2008 08:07, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Spy Game

Hey,

Nice job on Spy Game. However, there are no AKM or AKMS rifles in the movie. The gun you identified as an AKM is actually another AK-47 (if you look closely, you can see the milled receiver), and the guns you IDed as AKMS are actually more Norinco Type 56-1s (the bottom one especially has a visible hooded front sight). -MT2008 00:48, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

And send the person who had said that they were going to do the page that you are going to do it. Its cool, but just next time ask the person first. Good job though. -The Winchester
Eh, shit happens. I guess im just gonna have to kick you ass now lol jk. -The Winchester

The Getaway Shotgun

Hi there. Thanks so much for looking. The Armorer told me some of the history of this gun. Pre-1968 High Standard shotguns (or most non military generic long guns, other than the "major manufacturers") didn't have any serial numbers. Armorers had to stamp their own unique numbers for the purposes of tracking which gun went where. the original on set armorer (and I forgot his name for now) tried stamping the prop houses' unique serial number on the side, but after two strikes (9 --- 8) it was apparent that the side of the receiver was NOT the place to be stamping Serial numbers. It was denting in the receiver, so the full S/N was engraved on the underside (where Mossberg puts their "Model No" on their guns) where it would not dent inwards. You can still see the dents whenever you look at this side of the gun.

Aborted serial number stamping on the side of Steve McQueen's gun ..."98". Apparently this indentation is visible on this side of the gun in the movie somewhere

.

Does this help? Kinda cool movie trivia there. MoviePropMaster2008 19:15, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

So what should I do with this? ;)

Nickel plated Bauer 25 Automatic - .25 acp

Syd Stembridge has it listed as Toby MaGuire's gun in the movie Wonderboys with Michael Douglass, but it has been in inventory for decades. We suspect it was in movies in the early 1970s, but to definitely prove it we would have to go through invoice records going back 30 years (that stuff is not computerized, it's filed on paper in large file cabinets). Since they didn't have many of these, I opined that this is a good candidate for a screen used gun, it definitely has been in multiple movies. Hope you like. :) MoviePropMaster2008 05:56, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Clue

Looks like a Nickel Plated Harrington & Richardson 922 Revolver in .22 LR http://maxicon.com/guns/pics/h&r_922_1a.jpg MoviePropMaster2008 20:36, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Clue gun

I'm thinking it could be a H&R Model 642 (.32 S&W) in that the front of the revolver seems too large to be a .22 LR? the revolver is pretty much the same gun except different caliber. Thoughts? the side shot is deceptive in that the .22LR and the .32 S&W have the same profile, the only way to tell from a photo is to look at it from the front. :) MoviePropMaster2008 01:34, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

You won't believe this

Score! I've been holding off uploading these because I'm still waiting on an image for the Heartbreak Ridge' page (their weapons are set up slightly differently) so I hope people will wait to update that page until I can get a good image for that page.

Say Hello to My Little Friend!!!

Scarface fans will crap in their pants. Got the ACTUAL screen used LITTLE FRIEND. Now I used black gaffers tape and taped two 30 round magazines together as best I could (to try to match the screenshots). Do you think that was smart? or should I just present it with a plain magazine? Anyway, I did that because I wanted people to see it as it was most seen in the movie (Wow that launcher is beat up, it's been 25 years after all since the movie was filmed!!!!) It is also the old launchers that were used before the Cobray 37mm launchers became prevalent.

Tony Montanas' 'Little Friend' from the movie Scarface - Motion Picture Faux M203 launcher attached to M16A1 - 5.56mm/39mm

Screen used Zabala Shotgun

This IS the gun used by 'The Skull' Gino Silva to blast Tony Montana in the movie. I also included a closeup shot of the top of the gun to show the markings.

Screen used side by side Spanish Zabala Shotgun from the movie Scarface - 12 gauge
Top of the Screen used side by side Spanish Zabala Shotgun from the movie Scarface - 12 gauge. Note manufacturer markings on the top of the shotgun.

RUN! GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!!!

Recognize this lovely? I've been waiting to get pics for the Predator page for a while. So many weapons have either been sold off or taken apart and reconfigured for other movies.

Motion Picture Faux M203 launcher attached to M16/SP1 Rilfe - 5.56mm/39mm. Configured as it appeared in the movie.

IMFDB is the only place in the WORLD, now that has these images. How cool is that? :) I got some screen used muskets from Last of the Mohicans (from private collections), which is interesting since I usually don't get many pre 1848 weapons. MoviePropMaster2008 03:29, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the kudos on the Scarface page, but I prefer to keep a low profile. Sure I took the photos, but I don't want to seem like I'm taking all the glory from the many Industry Armorers who sacrifice their time to pull out movie used weapons for me to photograph. They deserve a lot of credit (Stembridge, Cinema Weaponry, The former Ellis Mercantile, ISS, including some actual museums (for the rare old stuff).) Now they also tend to keep a low profile as well, but when I present their guns, I only take credit for the 'good photography' ;) LOL Don't want to seem like I'm a glory hound or something. :) Thanks anyway. MoviePropMaster2008 03:54, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Assassins

Yea man, go ahead. I wish i could be doing some of these movies that i've promised, but having a life sucks. -The Winchester

Just remember, no spoilers

Just a friendly reminder. :) Spoilers are still frowned upon and some descriptions border on spoilers, especially going the extra mile by describing how a character uses a gun to kill a major character. Thanks. Of course, no one can beat the KING of spoilers (a member whose name I will not mention) ;) 76.202.198.159 07:19, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
