Yeah, this page is very nice and thorough. However, pretty much all of the Glocks you have IDed as -17s are actually 19s. Also, I have posted a picture of one of the "unidentified pistols" - it's not a real gun. -MT2008 02:10, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

The Sting

EXCELLENT job on the screengrabs for the Sting. Usually the general picture size on the pages is 500px, which I think should be the case since the members should be able to fully enjoy your crisp clear screengrabs. Usually we don't have 600px or higher since it looks too big on monitors which are 1024x768 (and believe it or not there are still smaller monitors on 800x600 settings). 500 seems to be the standard that most pages ended up with. I hope you don't mind if I upgrade your screengrab sizes to 500 px (from the 400 px you have). Yes, I was freaking out a bit on Dillinger and didn't know how to tell you since you did so much hard work. I personally try not to put more than four images (sometimes up to seven or eight) But the shots must be completely different or show another character. I also only put more than a few shots if the weapon is hard to see and several different angles will make it easier to identify (but I only do that with fantasy, custom or unusual weapons. I think everyone already knows what an M1911 looks like from every angle.) I feel bad about bringing it up. I know that some of us slammed Gunmaster45 previously for some of the extensive screengrabbing on his pages (poor guy). The problem is that it's a matter of preference. I prefer the pages to be concise and educational, and tend to think that too many images will being to make the viewer's eyes blur and you start making them lose interest. I tend to think that we DON'T need to see every single instance of the weapon's appearance in a film, but listing them in the description is fine. Twenty shots of the M1928 thompson on Dillinger set a dubious record of the most amount of 'overkill' on a weapon section on a movie page :) hahahahaha. One has to consider when the viewer will just get bored with the page and move on. Don't want that to happen. I've been wanting IMFDB to adopt a uniform code or rules for posting, but the number of screengrabs tends to change with the movie or page. Sometimes less is more. Sometimes you need more pics to make the point. But we must all be careful to NOT overdo it. This is my own standard, mind you, but I would limit screengrabs to less than eight (8) if there is no important new information that can be gleaned from more pics. There is also the issues of slow loading for new users and overtaxing of the servers. Hope this helps. IMO, if a user gets bored after viewing 11 or so screenshots, they should be taking ritalin. After maybe 25 or so, then it is getting tedious. Great work with Dillinger. I've limited myself to ten or so screenshots, and like MPM they are usually different people in different scenes. At the rate you are screencapping movies, you could soon be among us as an admin. But put some info on your profile so your name isn't written in red. It looks like you're more serious if your name is in bright blue. And with The Getaway (1972), I changed the (movie) thing to a date because that's what we do when there are several versions of something with the same name. And I recomend you replace Rafa's images with your own, your's are much better quality. - Gunmaster45

Re: Bourne Identity

That's OK if you can't get a good picture of Conklin's gun, but at least take the best shots you can find, and then put down "Unknown semi-automatic pistol" and explain that the lighting conditions make it difficult to tell what it is.

Also, you forgot another gun...the automatic weapon used by the guy in the safehouse who's shooting at Bourne from several floors down. I'm pretty sure it was a SIG SG-552, though I had trouble telling without being able to pause the TV. -MT2008 21:22, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

People have been saying it's a WA2000 for years. The IMDB page used to say it was a WA2000 until I edited it. But you can't believe what you read on the 'net all the time, I'm afraid. People mis-ID guns all the time. That's why IMFDB has to be better than the average site. My guess, which I put on the page, is that it might be a Keppeler & Fritz precision rifle, though I can't say I'm at all positive about that.

Also, there's another gun from this movie that you forgot about...when the CIA team is going to Jarda's house, there's a shot inside the car where one of them is loading a Micro Uzi. Might wanna grab that one, too.

Thunderball shotgun

At first it looks like a Remington 870 (I can't guarantee it is a Wingmaster, but it looks like one and fits the 60s time era). In the last two screenshots, it is a Browning A5 sporting shotgun. Google has pretty piss poor images of it, I'll ask MPM if he has one in his armory. I ought to be able to ID these shotguns, they are two of my favorite. :) - Gunmaster45

A and AN

As far as titles, I am just going by the standard sorting standard utilized by places like Hollywood Video or Blockbuster or Netflix. I don't think we need to change the "a" and "An" titles since there aren't that many. Welcome to the club! I hope you didn't infer from my conversations with Gunmaster45 that I didn't want you to be an Admin. I was just talking in generalities about the membership as a whole, noting that we must be careful, since we've been very lucky so far in that we have had admins that all get along with each other and all operate from the same template as far as how the site should look. Spoilers

Well for the record, I'm totally against spoilers. IMDB (the movie site) also has a policy that if a member reveals a spoiler without warning people, their accounts will be suspended. On IMFDB.org (our site) I've seen people put in ridiculous amounts of information that really has nothing to do with identifying the gun. If a person has SEEN the movie, then they will know what scene the gun appears in with well written "Generic" information. If a person has NOT SEEN the movie, then their viewing pleasure will not be destroyed. I remember a long time ago, (don't remember the movie) where someone was talking about a gun, and revealed some sort of double twist (the killer turns out to be imaginary, a fictional persona in the mind of the hero who is actually the serial killer himself ... something like that .... ) and I thought "WTF?!?!?!" That ruins the entire MYSTERY of the movie since all throughout the film we're trying to figure out who the killer is. That spoiler was outrageous. And it had NOTHING to do with the guns people were carrying. So yes, SPOILERS, IMHO are frowned upon, not just in the IMFDB community but the movie fan community as a whole. If a gun reveal also puts out a spoiler that is unavoidable (which is RARE but it happens) then a spoiler warning at the top of the page is needed. But by all means. Some of these anonymous users are 12 year olds who may not have the world experience to know what is not appropriate, so that is the job of the ADMIN/MOD. Hope this helps. You might get a kick out of this

Would YOU want a handgun collection like this? The pistols on the right side belong to Syd Stembridge (he still has some stuff), and the back wall and left wall belong to Mike Papac. (And yes, the boxes on the ground are full, there is no room on the walls left. All the empty slots are for handguns that are either out for repair or out on rental. My own handgun inventory is less than half of theirs, so I'm a small fry compared to these guys. But I thought you'd get a kick out of this pic. A similar pic has been seen in articles in the past about Stembridge Gun Rentals, so it's nice to see that this room still exists, though I need a bigger wide angle lens, I can't get back far enough to even get a fraction of the room. It is massive.

Imagine if you will.......

Walking down a hallway in a warehouse, from floor to ceiling are wooden cubbyholes, in these cubby holes are jammed multiple items which comprise three specific things (either submachine gun, select fire pistol, or short barreled shotgun). I am not sure how these items are sorted but I don't care, I like it! I LOVE poking around places like this. It make me happy :) I also see some items which I will try to photograph for IMFDB in the future (recognizing some of the stuff that I have on my list to take pics of for some of the specific movie pages). I just needed to cheer myself up after hearing daily news from the new administration! Just thought I'd share it! :)

Thanks, I had that movie in my DVD pile too long. I included the image of the real Billy the Kid because that was taken on a tin slab (and is reversed when printed on the slab), so I thought the movie picture was WAY off. Now I'm doing all my Eastwood films, starting with Dirty Harry. It's harder than I thought it would be so far, some of the guns are very hard to catch. Hopefully the other DH films will be easier. BTW, excellent work yourself, I like how you've covered all the Bond films, now this site has one more genre (a huge one too) to brag about ownning. Keep up the good work. - Gunmaster45

Nice Work

Patton came out great, excellent work. I originally came here to discuss something else though. I was scanning over random pages and The Godfather came up, and I remembered a gun that you missed. When Pacino is in Italy walking with the other guys carrying shotguns, American soldiers drive by in a jeep and one of them has a Thompson, I believe it was an M1A1. Not that its a big deal, but if you feel like going back to check, I'd appreciate it. I don't own the movie myself, I just rented it a few times.

Another thing, I bought the Untouchables recently and if it's okay with you, I was gonna add some Star B shots and clean up the differences between them and the 1911s, because Costner actually used the B a lot in the start of the film, before the raid where he finds umbrellas. If you'd rather do it though, feel free. I wouldn't be doing it for a while anyway since I'm still working on the Dirty Harry movies. Again, great work and keep it up. - Gunmaster45

TWINE (wierd acronym) came out great, I made some corrections. I'm gonna keep working on Magnum Force now, I started it last night but didn't finish it. How many Bond films are left now to do?

BTW, do you have Casino Royale in your collection (or Quantum or Solace yet)? Because even though I personally feel those films kind of killed classic Bond, they are still considered Bond films and the pages could use some work. Those movies took away the gadgets, and the general coolness of Bond IMO. Bond doesn't chase free-runners through construction sites, he finds a tank and follows him whilst destroying things in the process. And Bond was almost poisoned and had to be saved by the girl using the defibrilator. Bond shouldn't need saving, he's Bond! Now Bond is using his PPK again, so instead of making Bond more high-tech, their taking him back (???) to his really old habits. I bet Walther is pissed their new PPS isn't Bond's new gun, since Walther's been advertizing their guns in Bond films since the beginning. And the gadgets have always been my favorite part of the Bond movies, so until they bring in a Q to the new Bond series, I won't be interested. ;) - Gunmaster45

Unfortunately I didn't get Magnum Force done yet but that's because I've been catching up on screencapping Flashpoint, which is a pain in the ass because I can't fast forward and have to watch 40 minutes just to get 6 measly caps. Anyway, I'll be staying up as late as I want because it's friday and I can, so I'll still probably get MF done tonight.
