Demons of War

I don't suppose you'd be willing to fix some of the captions on the page, would you? Anyone could fix spelling and grammatical errors, but since it appears you've actually seen the movie, you would have an advantage. --Funkychinaman (talk) 10:50, 9 August 2013 (EDT)

Polish Tokarev Image

I noticed that you keep changing this image and undoing it. Is this because you didn't think it was updating? If so, when you update an image it takes a while for the database to sort it out so it shows the old image for a while. On media and gun paged you can force the thumbnail to update by changing the size slightly, such as goin from 300px to 301px, or if you just leave it a day or so it will sort itself out. Just a note about images, If you are putting up a gun image it is preferred that it is cropped with just a small area of white around the gun itself, as otherwise it is just wasted space. Also, be careful overwriting one version of a gun with a different variant. In this case it was OK as the majority of the uses of the file were for original Polish guns, however there was one usage that I cold see for the US import version. As it was just the one it is easier just to overwrite the old one and I'll reupload the US version as a new image, but just remember in the future if you change the variant that you might be making some pages wrong. --commando552 (talk) 09:00, 12 August 2013 (EDT)

Updating images

When you upload a new version of an existing image, it won't update on the page immediately. You can force it to update if you change the thumbnail size, even if it's just for one pixel, like from 400px to 401px. --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:15, 12 August 2013 (EDT)

You can force it to update on actual pages by increasing the image size by one pixel: it'll change automatically only if the previous image was smaller than the specified image size on the page. It takes a long time for the actual file page to update sometimes, it's a known issue we have with the cloud server's cache not updating when the actual site server does. RE: Opinion on moving some pages

I don't know much about the proper naming of this gun so have to rely on online sources, which unfortunately are particularly inconsistent when it comes to naming this pistol. For example on the same wikipedia page it is referred to as the "Vis Pistol", "Radom", "Pistolet wz. 35 Vis", "Pistolet ViS wz. 35" and "Pistolet ViS wz.35". However, any pistol i have actually seen has had the VIS capitalised on the markings, such as here, here, and here (last one with the "mod" rather than "vz" is one made for the German army). Personally, I always though that the proper naming for the gun was "VIS wz. 35", with a capital VIS and a space between the wz. and the 35. --commando552 (talk) 16:27, 12 August 2013 (EDT)

I'll go with with the lower case, as I suppose it does make more sense what with it being an actual Latin word rather than an acronym, so the "official" part of the name should be "Vis wz. 35". However I think Radom should be in the name as that is what it is widely known as. What do you think the page title should be, "Radom Vis wz. 35" or something else? This is an American site so the American name normally takes priority, be it with pieces of media or with guns, so the "Radom" should really be in the page name somewhere. If the pistol was actually officially imported under the name Radom then the page would actually just be called "Radom Pistol" with the original name in the article, but that fact that the Radom name is an unofficial nickname makes this a gray area. Possibly "Vis wz. 35 "Radom" pistol"? Putting the Radom in quotation marks makes it clear that it is a colloquialism or nickname rather than part of the proper designation. --commando552 (talk) 16:46, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
