Tomorrow Never Dies
The following guns appear in the film Tomorrow Never Dies:
Armalite AR-18 (heavily modified)
In the opening scene, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) wields a heavily modified Armalite AR-18. The rifle used in the film was given many modifications; the barrel was shortened, the handguards and flash hider removed, and the side-folding stock replaced with a top-folding stock. Only the receiver was left unchanged. The rubber stunt version of this gun is now on sale at Propstore, confirming at last what this weapon is (it has been the subject of much debate here on IMFDB and other gun message boards).
AK variants
In the opening shootout at the bazaar some of the terrorists are seen shooting at Bond with different types of AK-47 variants.
- Most of these are Chinese Norinco Type 56-1 rifles with AK-74-style muzzle breaks installed, probably the exact same guns that were used previously in GoldenEye.
Beretta 92FS
Bond knocks out a terrorist pilot who has a Beretta 92FS (although the pistol is a Hi-Power in the next shot).
Browning Hi-Power
The pilot's Beretta is now a double-action-only Browning Hi-Power when Bond knocks it out of his hand.
- This is an HP-DA, the double-action variant.
SIG P210
One of Gupta's terrorists uses a SIG P210 to commandeer a Jeep when Bond begins shooting up the bazaar.
M60E3
After the HMS Devonshire is sunk in the beginning of the film, the survivors are approached by the stealth boat that discreetly tore a hole in it with a remote-controlled sea drill. As they plead for help, Stamper (Gotz Otto) emerges with an M60E3 Machine Gun and fires it into the crowd of survivors, killing all of them.
Walther PPK
For the majority of the film, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) uses a Walther PPK as his long-standing personal sidearm. His PPK is most notably seen in the Tomorrow printing factory shootout and with its equally iconic suppressor attached when Paris Carver (Teri Hatcher) shows up to confront Bond. Tomorrow Never Dies represents the last time until Quantum of Solace that the PPK would show up in a Bond film.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Many of Carver's henchmen, including Stamper (Gotz Otto) carry Heckler & Koch MP5A3 submachine guns. In the final gunfight on Carver's ship, Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh) dual-wields two.
Heckler & Koch MP5K
Many of Carver's henchmen carry Heckler & Koch MP5K submachine guns. Stamper (Gotz Otto) has one briefly during the shootout with Bond on Carver's ship.
Heckler & Koch P7
Dr. Kaufman (Vincent Schiavelli) uses a Heckler & Koch P7 to attempt to kill Bond. Kaufman is subsequently executed with it by Bond. It's distinguished from the P7M8 because it lacks the M8's plastic heat shield above the trigger, and has a flush firing pin bushing.
Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW
Some of Carver's henchmen carry Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW submachine guns. Bond (Pierce Brosnan) comandeers one in the final scene, using it akimbo with his P99.
- Minor mistake, but technically, these aren't real MP5K-PDWs, they're just standard MP5Ks fitted with the PDW folding stock, which is actually not the same thing. The factory MP5K-PDW has a Navy trigger group and a threaded barrel to accept suppressors; the ones in the movie all have the SEF trigger group and no threaded barrel. That means the film's armorers just stuck the PDW stocks on regular MP5Ks.
M16A2
Several of Carver's men use M16A2 rifles in the parking garage scene, modified with Beta-C Magazines and M203 Grenade Launchers.
M4A1 Carbine with M203 grenade launcher
In the Atlantic Hotel parking garage, Many of Carver's goons use M4A1 with M203 Grenade Launcher rifles to destroy Bond BMW (Some of them with Beta-C drum barrels). During the climax of the movie, Stamper (Gotz Otto) locates Wai Lin and holds her at gunpoint with the same gun.
- The one in this picture is the M16A2/M203 (the housing over the launcher is the wrong type for an M4). Also, I should point out that the M4 seen in the parking garage actually has one of those inverted 90-round drums (look closely and pause just when the guy with the M4/M203 fires the grenade which destroys the BMW's windshield).
M72 LAW
One of Carver's men uses what appears to be an M72 LAW when trying to stop Bond's BMW in the hotel parking garage.
- This is either a LAW-80 or a 94mm LAW, not an M72.
- Definitely a LAW-80...you can tell by the housing underneath the tub which holds the "spotting rifle"
Calico M960
In Shanghai, when Bond and Wai Lin make their escape from Elliot Carver's penthouse room, Bond procures a Calico M960 from a disabled security guard, using the machine pistol to shoot out a nearby window. The pair then jump, avoiding gunfire from more of Carver's guards, some of whom are armed with M950s.
Type 59
This is the Chinese version of the Russian Makarov PM used by the the thugs who attack Wai Lin at her safe house. Bond later points it out after he incapacitates a thug with it.
AKMS
Several AKMS assault rifles can be seen in Wai Lin's safehouse.
- These are Norinco Type 56-1s, the Chinese version (on IMFDB, we tend to separate the Chinese AKs from other variations). Also note that you can see AKS-74Us (hung vertically on the right) in this picture, as well as a GE M134 Minigun across the bottom of the safe.
FAMAS
Several FAMAS rifles are also visible in Wai Lin's safehouse.
Walther P99
In Shanghai, Bond (Pierce Brosnan) picks out a Walther P99 from Wai Lin's (Michelle Yeoh) hidden armory. He then uses the gun, with a suppressor attached, through a great deal of the movie's climax aboard the Stealth ship, losing it only when he runs dry during an intense period of gunfire. This is also the gun featured on many posters for the film.
SIG P229
Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) uses a SIG-Sauer P229 and shoots Henry Gupta (Ricky Jay) in the chest.
Glock 17
Carver's guards use Glock 17 pistols. Carver (Jonathan Pryce) himself uses one in the final scene.
