|
Titanic is a 1996 two-part miniseries directed by Robert Lieberman. 1912: The luxury liner Titanic is the meeting place of high society, which wants to take part in the most important social event of the year: the crossing of the Atlantic in new record time. Each of the passengers takes their own personal hopes and worries with them on board. The beautiful Isabella Paradine travels without her much older husband - and meets her former lover on the ship. Young Madeleine has married multimillionaire John Jakob Astor and fears she will not be accepted by New York society. Jaimie Perse, a desperate pickpocket, falls in love with naive immigrant Osa Ludvigsen. Bruce Ismay, head of the shipping line that owns the Titanic, also joins the Maiden voyage. The luxury passenger ship, the epitome of technical perfection, is his pride and joy - he is convinced that the unsinkable ship does not need lifeboats.
