The Strange Countess (Die seltsame Gräfin) is a 1961 German detective movie directed by Josef von Baky and and adapted from the 1925 novel by Edgar Wallace. Margaret Reedle (Brigitte Grothum), a secretary of a barrister, receives mysterious phone calls with death threats. Soon after she suffers several attacks and is saved only with the help of the certain Mike Dorn (Joachim Fuchsberger). Hoping to escape the danger, Margaret flees London and takes a job as private secretary to the snobbish Countess Leonora Moron (Lil Dagover). However, it soon turns out that the escape to the castle was the wrong decision.

The film is the eighth installment in the Rialto Film studio film series (1959-1972) adapted from the novels of Edgar Wallace and the second screen adaptation of the original Wallace's novel after 1933 British film The Jewel.

NHM Model 9 gas revolvers are used by Inspector Mike Dorn (Joachim Fuchsberger) and Dr. Tappat (Rudolf Fernau). In the final scene Lady Eleanora Moron (Lil Dagover) briefly holds a revolver.

Unidentified revolver

In the climactic scene Lord Selwyn Moron (Eddi Arent) fires a revolver that is seen only in distance. This revolver has longer and slimmer barrel than Dorn's and Tappat's guns; it may be an NHM Model 6 that is also seen in other films of Rialto Edgar Wallace series.

Herbert Schmidt Model 4

Chesney Praye (Richard Häussler) owns a pocket pistol that seems to be a Herbert Schmidt Model 4 (also mentioned as HS4) gas-firing gun. Inspector Dorn disarms him.

The large rounded trigger guard is seen.

Unidentified pocket pistol

In the climactic scene Dorn hands the pocket pistol to Margaret Reedle (Brigitte Grothum) but this a definitly different gun than the one, taken from Praye. Most likely this gun is some non-lethal model, like many other handguns in the film series.
