The Safety Match (Shvedskaya spichka) is a Soviet 1954 detective comedy directed by Konstantin Yudin and based on the short story by Anton Chekhov. Two detectives in a small Russian town, seasoned and bored magistrate Nikolai Yermolayevich Chubikov (Aleksey Gribov) and his inexperienced but aspiring assistant Emil Dyukovsky (Andrei Popov), investigate the supposed murder of local landlord. The main material evidence in the case is a charred safety match (known in Russia at that time as "Swedish match"). But at last the detectives find out that there was no murder, and the supposed victim disappeared from sights to make an affair with another man's wife.

The following weapons were used in the film The Safety Match (Shvedskaya spichka):

Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action

Magistrate assistant Emil Dyukovsky (Andrei Popov) own a nickel plated Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action revolver with pearl grips (most likely not original S&W but a European, possibly Spanish clone). This is the same prop that was later seen in several other Mosfilm productions, like Semeynoe schastye, Zemlya Sannikova and Zhestokiy romans.

Judging by the presence of lanyards, the revolvers are in holsters.
