(Apparent) Neo-Nazi Ernie Kaltenbrünner (Don Calfa) carries a pearl-handled Walther P38 (often mistaken by fans for a Luger). Director Dan O'Bannon wanted Calfa to carry a Luger, but one wasn't available so the crew found a P38 (more accurate considering it is a World War II gun and Ernie is suggested to be a former Nazi).
