Nice, but where's the trigger?

The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951)

The weapons seen in this movie are:

M1911A1

Used by a tank crewman to shoot Klaatu from a tank turret.

M1911A1 - .45 ACP.
The clearly nervous tanker keeps his M1911 trained on Klaatu.
The tanker fires reflexively when Klaatu draws a "weapon" (later revealed to be a peace offering). One wonders if the tanker was reprimanded?
Other soldiers with their M1911's drawn in response to Gort's sudden appearance.

M1 Carbine

Used by US soldiers in the movie. Gort famously melts these rifles from the soldiers' hands to show that he has come to bring peace.

World War Two Era M1 Carbine, with Dark Walnut Stock, 'L' peep sight and no bayonet lug - correct for most of WW2, shown with khaki sling and Magazine pouch for buttstock
Soldiers aim their M1 Carbines at the landed spaceship.
Gort, in response to Klaatu's wounding, fires a laser beam from his eye-visor that strikes the soldiers' weapons.
The soldiers stare down in shock as their M1 Carbines disintegrate. (They don't, although a severely peeved Gort does later completely disintegrate two unfortunate guards.)

M1917 browning machine gun

Seen manned by a US soldier in washington DC.

Browning M1917 - .30-06.

M2HB browning machine gun

Used by US soldiers on a Jeep when chasing Klattu through Washington DC.

Browning M2HB on vehicle mount - .50 BMG
