Switch's HP

This pistol is incorrectly labeled as a .40S&W version in one of the captions and the description. The barrel has been blued, giving it the appearance of a larger muzzle diameter. However, it cannot be a .40S&W because the slide is too narrow. On Hi Powers, the .40S&W has a wider slide and different contour to the slide stop. Switch clearly has a circular slide stop which only fits on the 9mm HPs.

Will someone with the privileges to do so please correct this?

Mouse's mystery guns

Can anyone identify the guns Mouse uses when the SWAT team kills him? I've no clue what they are. Also, what kinds of guns are the SWAT team themselves using? Orca1 9904 14:38, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

-They're custom built for the movie, but the article claims they are identified by leetspeak, and this is not true.

They were custom one-off pieces.

John Bowring, Armourer for The Matrix, sent the below email to madogre regarding the guns.

"I made & supplied the guns for the Matrix

1) Mouses guns are custom made electrically driven 12g that run at 900RPM
2) I chose Beretta 84's for Trinity as you said good little sister to Nios 92's.
3) Larry & Andy the directors of the matrix asked me who uses a 50AE desert eagle I Said " A Wanka" there reply no who are they maid for I said " Wankers" there reply are wankers in this film want Desert eagles My reply your film.
4) Wardrobe mistress wonted to change Switches pistol as she had and "I quote her designed the pistols for Romeo & Juliet" my reply stick to designing wardrobes. (Beside the funding for Romeo & Juliet was got by doing a small section of it to show what it would be like for which "I" suppled Stainless steel Beretta and that is what set the tone for the guns in Romeo & Juliet) You never know whose out there

Ok, how about the SWAT team that takes Mouse out? What kinds of guns are they using? Orca1 9904 14:59, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
I know I've got some screenshots of those SWAT guys - I'll try and post them up tonight. bunni 22:15, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

The Deja Vu Building scene

Do you mean the two rotary shotguns the guy uses who gets killed by the SWAT team?, Thats what i labelled on the main page as 'Revolver Cannons'.

A revamp

I got all four Matrix films in a pack and I was wondering if I could give the Matrix a proper revamp and remove the google images and tiny screencaps with high quality screencaps from my sister's uber-awesome laptop. I promise I'd give them the upgrade they deserve if it is okay with everyone. - Gunmaster45

This is the problem with asking in the discussion section, no one sees this displayed unless they look through the recent changes. - Gunmaster45
Indeed, though I don't think it's good to let long conversations go on while they're on the page itself. But as far as revamping it, I don't think there's any objection to you doing so. -MT2008 01:56, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

How's it look now? Maybe the revamp will boost its popularity a little more, since this page has always been really popular, yet it wasn't very complete with google images and such. You may notice the images are really big and clear, but I didn't have time to resize them and don't they look nice? - Gunmaster45

Looks great! And you didn't go too crazy with screencaps, which is always preferred. -MT2008 20:48, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Yay! i agree. It looks great. I am doing a test, not to step on anyone's toes, but I am thinking that the screencapping software was 'squishing' the image, so I am doing a few test replacements to see how it looks. I have been noticing that some of the screencapping software distorts the image. MoviePropMaster2008 04:32, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Annoying

Something that always bugs me about this movie is when Morpheus is talking about the Agents and says, "Men have emptied entire clips at them and hit nothing but air." I hope he's talking about M1 Garands or any bolt action stripper fed rifle, or he's made a serious classification error. It makes him look like an ass, and Morpheus is supposed to be cool and all knowning. - Gunmaster45

Personally, I'm a little more bugged by the fact that the film's (idiot) foley editor added the sound of hammers being cocked on the police officers' Glocks when they arrest Trinity. Or the Skorpions dropping rifle-caliber shell casings to the floor. Or the fact that Neo's Berettas disappear while he's dodging bullets on the roof after he drops them at his feet. The number of gun-related errors in this movie are rather ridiculous, and what annoys me most is when fans of the movie always cop out by saying, "Well, that's because it's the Matrix, DUH!" -MT2008 01:38, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
You shouln't blame the foley editor for the sound on the glocks, should blame the producers they are the ones who call the shoots on the use of sounds in movies.Oliveira 15:53, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
No mention of the sound error of the SPAS using an M16 burst for sound and the M16 using a shotgun blast for sound in the lobby scene? I am shocked!-protoAuthor

.50 Caliber

another point on the .50 Desert Eagles, the .44 mag and .357 mag desert eagles have fluted barrels (where the handle meets them and the barrels go from a box cross-section to a more octagonal cross-section) and the ones in the screenshots have none. As a source for this I would cite the official product page[1] in the product info for the mark XIX desert eagle, and possibly compare them to the .357 mag on the 10-inch below it [2]

I thought only the .44 Magnum version of the Mark XIX had the fluted barrel? Or at least, the Mark I and Mark VII in .357 Magnum didn't have the fluted barrel, I dunno about the Mark XIX as I've never seen/handled one in .357. -MT2008 23:15, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

caliber

--I'm not too sure that these are .50AE. If anything, the agents have fired much more than the 7 rounds in a .50 Desert Eagle, and there is barely any recoil as a .50 would. I would say that it would be a Deagle chambered in .357 Magnum instead. If I am mistaken, I stand corrected. --Blemo 21:53, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

They are most definitely the .50 AE version. That is without doubt a .50-cal bore in the third screenshot; the .357 bore is much smaller. The armorer who worked on the movie, John Bowring, has also said they are the .50 AE version in interviews. The reason there's so little recoil is because the actors are firing blanks (as you can also see in the last image), and blanks have much less recoil than live rounds. -MT2008

Agents

I wold have shot at their chest with one pistol and then kneecapped them with a second pistol simultaniously. Man, the people in this movie are stupid-S&Wshooter 05:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

They can dodge bullets, as they see the bullets moving at a very slow speed and have a fast enough reaction time to dodge. Even if you do shoot the agents and hit them, they just take a different host. You can't win. - Gunmaster45

Killing an agent just slowed them down.it just gives you more time to run. Rex095

Beretta 92FS

"...because for some reason he sees more logic in carrying eight pistols instead of just one or two with spare magazines to reload. " Given that he can carry eight pistols, it seems much more logical to simply discard a pair rather than try to reload them.

Think about it - reloading two pistols each requiring a clip? Even with a quick reloading belt to slide the guns onto to reload, this requires some minor degree of concentration and if he's emptying the clips, each pistol must still be cocked first.

  • coughs* MAGAZINE. A clip is what you load some rifles with. Got it?

Or, he could empty a pair and drop them as he reaches for another.

I'm not a member here, but I'd have been happy to edit this part out.

M1911A1

The page is missing one more gun. During the rooftop scene when Neo and Trinity are fighting several soldiers, I noticed the guy who tries to shoot Trinity is holding what appears to be a M1911A1.

The Building's Security

Are the lobby guards and the backup soldiers are really classified as bad guys? And when the lobby guard said to send backup, was he really calling the agents?
