Early M4's lacked the removable carrying handle. It could be an M4.

I've handled a 90's era M4A1 and they didn't origionally have a detachable carry handle. that's a new trick added for SOCCOM that's become standard issue for even the M-4s for regular infantry troops. Rockwolf66 20:42, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
