If you look closely these appear to be M-1 Garands with some sort of mocked up flash suppressor and extended magazine attached. Something similar was seen in the movie adaptation of "A Rumor of War" when the M-14 was not available similar faux weapons were used. Beretta BM59

- Actually I do not believe they were either M-14s or Beretta BM59s. The BM-59 was not available in the US until the mid-late 80s and, at the time the movie was made, likewise for the M-14/M-1A.
