(NOTE: CJ ACTUALLY USED A G22 OR POSSIBLY A G23. You can see when he drops the magazine, it says ".40S&W". However, it is a 10 rd limit so you can not distinguish the model GLOCK.)

[12 JUL 2008: CORRECTION - The magazine that drops from CJ's Glock is indeed a 10 rounder, but it does not say .40S&W, it says ".45". If you have the DVD, pause it on that scene and you'll see it. This would also be consistent with being used in a G21]

All Service Model Glocks (17, 20, 21, 22, 31 & 37) all have a 15 round mag capacity.

[12 JUL 2008: The above mag capacities are not exact (assuming reference to standard Glock High-Cap magazines, and not with the +2 floorplate). The G17 in 9mm = 17 rounds (the G19 in 9mm would have 15 rounds), the G21 in .45ACP = 13 rounds. The G37 in .45GAP only holds 10 rounds.]

The movie was filmed in the summer of 2003 when magazines available for private citizens were limited to ten rounds plus it was filmed in Canada. Would this also play into it? Just wondering. --Jcordell 03:35, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Shotgun

(Edit) You can't identify a shotgun via the barrel. Barrels are easily changed between models ie the Mossy 500 and the 590 etc. You need to look at the receiver of the shotgun in question ie the loading/ejection port/bolt/rivets/pins/trigger guard/safety etc etc etc. Come on, guys, this is basic stuff. The shotgun used in that truck scene is a plain old pistol grip Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" barrel. The one used in that gunshop scene in the second pic is a shorty Remington 870. Tucker's shotgun switched back and forth from a Mossberg 500 to an 870 continually. There is nothing even close to an Ithaca 37 in that movie. The Ithaca 37 is a bottom ejecting pump....the ones used in the film all clearly had ejection ports.

In addition Micheal takes a simmilair looking weapon from the gunstore, although he is never shown fireing it. Cj takes this gun after Tuckers death, and ultimately somehow Terry gets ahold of it, and can be seen fireing it from the bus during the escape.

When the shotgun changes from a pistol grip Mossberg 500, it changes to a Remington Non Gun. It's the same Remington non gun from the first season of Justified Remington Non Gun.jpg I would edit this page myself but I'm still new to editing and I don't want to screw up the page. - Shadow45

Ruger SP-101

This most definately is NOT a Ruger SP101. It's more likley a flashcap nongun, or an armscor 206. i think it is just a nongun to replace her model 19 because she is so close to steve.

I think it might be a nongun also, if you look closely you can see that the bore does not align with the cylinder very well. -User:AdAstra2009

I think this is the model 10 .38 special with a heavy barrel. I think so because when they are stocking up on ammo in the gun store he checks it and says it uses .38s. I know that .357s can fire .38s but if it was a .357 it would say so on the gun.

M249 SAW

Looks to me more like an M60 variant by the shape of the front sight. I'll have to watch the movie later and see if I can get a better look. Spartan198 17:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC) Spartan198

Bart's revolver

I got to say that bart's revolver is more than likely a S&W model 10 with a heavy barrel. During the scene in andy's gunshop while CJ and Bart are grabbing ammo. CJ asks bart what caliber he needs, Bart clearly calls out ".38". Why CJ didn't know that is anyones guess. - That wasn't Bart. It was Terry. Bart was the 1st survivor to die. and if you watch the movie with subtitles on, you can hear him say .357 so yes, it is a Model 13

It could be either or because they ask for both ammo types, and they have a Model 19 snub too as well as a possible dozen of other .357 caliber weapons, because they are in a gun store. It has to be a Model 13 though or else it hadn't been loaded in nearly every scene it was pointed at someone, as it's not used but it still deters people when it's aimed at them, even people like CJ who would know whether or not it was empty. --Yournamehere 03:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Kenneth's Shotgun

MPM is gonna hate me for this but the mockup that he made isn't entirely accurate to the gun Kenneth used in the latter parts of the movie. MPMs mockup has the short police/riot forend which doesn't cover the loading gate when cocked, but Kenneth's is clearly the old hunting style synthetic that covers the gate when pumped. If you look at MPM's build and the one Kenneth is holding, you'll see what I mean. --Yournamehere 03:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

And what screenshot shows this? You will have to show how this is so. I checked the images again and I don't see it. Also Surefire didn't make old style hunting forearms when they made the tactical flashlight fore-ends. MoviePropMaster2008 05:22, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

This is what he is referring to --AdAstra2009 16:55, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Ving Rhames really knows his stuff

He handles those shotguns better than just about any actor I've ever with a firearm in any movie. Spartan198 16:04, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Snyder is a bit of a gun nut, the "pussy 9 mils" was his little tip to .45, according the the audio commentary. I imagine he had Ving go through a a lot of tactical gun training.--Jackie.45Cal 17:35, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

P-229.

A gun can be seen in Micheals wasteband during the escpe, until he takes it out, and puts it down, when he gets behind the drivers seat of the bus. I got a buddie who insit its the Sig.

CJ's Odd Mood Swings

This isn't really gun-related, but can anyone explain CJ's abrupt change of mood at the end of the film? He goes from hating everyone else and being ready to kill them to being prepared to sacrifice himself for them. I didn't really get that.

Type of personality that you sometimes run into in the military. Wartime: Hero. Peacetime: Fuck Up. The traits that make for a great combat soldier don't necessarily make for a good peacetime citizen. That's my take.--Jcordell 19:04, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I kinda see what you mean. I just thought it was odd that he was prepared to hold off the zombies for people who'd done nothing but keep him locked up for a month. Although, he does try the door, so he may not necesarily have thought he was sacrificing himself. Another question: When he tries the door, what does he say? Is it "Damn! Fuck!" or "Jammed! Fuck!" I think it's "damn."

Birdshot Shells?

When Tucker says "We've got Twelve o' these shotguns shells" as he puts them on the table, they look to be low-brass birdshot. Did anyone else think so, or am I mistaken? -SasquatchJim

Smith & Wesson Model 27

Did anybody else take a close look at this screencap and spot something wrong?

A Smith & Wesson Model 27 laying on a counter just before Michael picks it up.

The ejector rod housing is all wrong, it looks like it's supposed to swing out to the right side instead of the left. At first I thought it was a reversed shot but there's no cylinder release latch. I think it's one of those fake Dollar Store guns that sell for about a buck, they're molded in a similar manner.

That's a good point. I believe there's a similar goof on one screencap with Clint Eastwood's S&W Performance Center 627 in Blood Work. StanTheMan 20:52, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
The gun on Blood Work is supposed to be like that. --Predator20 22:05, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
note the ejector rod
I thought it was still shrouded from the right..Whoa, learn something new every day. Thanks Pred. Nice image, BTW. StanTheMan 22:10, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Some of S&W Performance Center guns are like that for some reason, with the hollowed out shroud. Maybe it's for weight savings. Also are y'all sure that ejector shroud on the Model 27 from DOD is wrong? It kind of looks like its indented, be it could be the lighting and shadowing making it look that way.--Predator20 22:18, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
With Close examination you can see that the gun is normal and in fact is by the light. --Dillinger 23:41, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Also notice the symbol embossed on the marks and the absence of the grips screw. Looks just like a rubber prop.--Charly Driver 09:54, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Pussy 9 mil

Why do americans hate the 9mm, it's well proven and theres nothing wrong with it. Is it just because its smaller than the .45 and .357, or cos it's german, or what? Stephenf1234 16:41, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Not sure I speak for all Americans, but I personally like 9mm. I also don't know many people who "hate" 9mm, but for defense, they'd rather have the power of .45 ACP. -MT2008 17:00, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Agreed; I don't hate the 9mm; it's a good round. There are just other rounds I like better (namely the .357 mag, .357 Sig, and .45 ACP.) I really doubt that being German has anything to do with it. -SasquatchJim. Although, I did laugh at the admiration in Tucker's voice when he says ".357 magnums."

Well, in Tucker's defense, he does appear to be a redneck of sorts and when it comes to guns, most rednecks tend to go big (i.e., .357 Magnum). But considering a single shot to the head no matter what the caliber puts a zombie down for good, I don't get what makes 9mm a "pussy" in their situation. It's better than a baseball bat or crowbar. Spartan198 01:15, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

I think when he says "pussy," he's comparing it to the other rounds they have (the .357 and 12 gauge.) -SasquatchJim.

Alternate (Third) Kenneth Hero 870?

This is my favorite movie, so naturally, I rewatch it every now and again. I was taking note of the little gunfight that happens outside of the gun shop and admiring the aesthetics of it all when I noticed some shit.

So Kenneth's running and gunning like a mad man, turning bad guys into wet bags of shit, all is good. He's that big, beautiful Police 870 with the good ol' Surefire forend. We've seen him modeling with it all movie, and he's getting it good and carbon-y left and right.

Kenneth clears a stovepipe. Notice the length of the shell tube in relation to the pump in mid-cycle.

Kenneth is slinging the good word all the way up to the truck. Fuck you and your zombie virus because Officer Hall's got buckshot.

Honey badger don't care.

And then some shit happens.

LOOK AT THE TUBE: IT ALMOST GOES TO THE END OF THE BARREL.
You can even somewhat make out the extended tube in the edited footage of point-blank-to-the-face zombie getting his just due.
We then see the end of the tube in relation to the end of the barrel again in the following shot where the gun is taken from the great black hunter. There is a clear difference between this gun and the gun that was used in the beginning of the scene. We can also clearly see that this tube is naturally affixed and is not an extension; this is a factory gun with an extended tube.
If we look at an alternate angle, we also see that not only is the Surefire forend there, but this must be a functioning gun due to the bright red cross-bolt safety mechanism that is was not engaged at that time.

I'm just saying, all y'all: there was a second 870 used in this movie; my guess is that it was an action gun meant to hold one or two more shells for more shooting during takes, but the fact of the matter is that the armorer took care to make sure it resembled the original 870 because it still has the Surefire forend. However, it is odd in that the shotgun does not appear until they are all the way up to the BP truck and had used the main hero 870 up until that point; the extended tube Police 870 did not show up on film until the up-close blast to the face and subsequent taking of the gun from Kenneth with what appears to be the same forend that was on the original gun.

I demand answers despite the fact that I asked no questions, imfdb. Anyone else got any insight, comments, complaints, commentary, et cetera on this discovery?
