Of course the barrel looks squarish but I believe that is due to limitations of the otherwise fine game engine. As for the gun The Joker uses during the third fear toxin sequence I can't be sure but it could be modeled on any number of weapons (Glock or maybe an HK USP?). I think it is fair to say that the assault rifles where patterned after the HK G36K variant with aspects of the other variants combined.
