Smith & Wesson Model 29
During most of the movie, Clint Eastwood, as “Dirty Harry”, carries his S&W model 29 in .44 Remington Magnum caliber.
AMP .44 AutoMag 180
Eastwood uses also an AMP AutoMag 180 in .44 Auto Magnum caliber, in the movie. This was a gun that actually was discontinud from production many years earlier. A series of about 1,000 guns was made for the movie and the domnestic market. The serial numbers og these guns start with CLINT. Since it was a gas-operated gun, a diversion of the AR15/M16-mechanism, it could also be adjusted to fire blanks without altering the firearm. .44 blanks for this gun was shortened 7.62 NATO brass.

Sondra Locke uses a nickeled Colt Detective Special
