Chris Ryan's Strike Back - Season 1 (2010)

The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series Strike Back:

Pistols

SIG-Sauer P226

The West German SIG-Sauer P226 is used by Sergeant John Porter (Richard Armitage) and his United Kingdom Special Forces team mates as their sidearms while in Iraq in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01) and again 7 years later in "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02). Later, Hugh Collinson (Andrew Lincoln) uses a P226 in "Afghanistan: Part Two" (S01E06), giving it to Porter while the two are fighting off a militant attack on the Afghan-Pakistani border.

Porter holds an Iraqi insurgent hostage with a P226 in "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02).
Porter lowers his P226 after encountering children at an orphanage in "Zimbabwe: Part Two" (S01E04).
Collinson checks his P226 before meeting with Porter in "Afghanistan: Part Two" (S01E06).
Hugh Collinson (Andrew Lincoln) holds his P226 in "Afghanistan: Part Two" (S01E06).
Collinson fires the P226 in "Afghanistan: Part Two" (S01E06).

Glock 17

While working as a security guard at Section 20, John Porter is seen disassembling a 3rd Generation Glock 17 in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01). In "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02), Lieutenant Layla Thompson (Jodhi May carries a Glock 17 while assisting a UKSF rescue team. In "Afganistan: Part One" (S01E05), Porter is later seizes another Glock 17 (this one an older 2nd Generation model) from a soldier and uses it while helping Gerald Baxter escape from American custody.

Vektor Z88

Due to the series' production in South Africa, the Vektor Z88, the South African copy of the Beretta 92FS, appears to be the handgun used throughout in lieu of the Beretta, first carried by Massoud (Nabil Elouahabi) before being taken away by Porter in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01) and most notably by various Zimbabwean security personnel, including Colonel Tshuma (David Harewood).

Revolvers

Astra 680

An Astra 680 revolver can be seen in Episode 6, when Sharq (Alexander Siddig) forces Gerald Baxter (Ewen Bremner) to play Russian Roulette, first loading one round, then a second after the chamber clicks empty. Porter eventually convinces Baxter to leave with him and they use the revolver to escape.

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP5KN

Porter is armed with what appears to be a Heckler & Koch MP5KN submachine gun with a red dot sight and suppressor in "Iraq: Part One (S01E01) and fires it at Iraqi insurgents in "Iraq: Part Two (S01E02). It should be noted that this was an airsoft replica, as is later revealed when he shows that the magazine is empty at the shootout in the desert, just before his extraction.

Porter searches an apartment with his MP5KN near the end of "Iraq: Part One (S01E01).
The MP5KN is pointed at a surprised Massoud (Nabil Elouahabi) in "Iraq: Part One (S01E01).)
Porter returns fire with the MP5KN in "Iraq: Part Two (S01E02.

Shotguns

Remington 870 (Sawn Off)

A customised short barreled Remington Model 870 with a synthetic pump is seen on the weapons table for the United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) soldiers in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01), which is then carried and used by one of John Porter's men. A UKSF operator carries a short barrelled Remington 870 to breach a door during a rescue mission 7 years later in the same episode.

The UKSF weapons table shows two short barrelled shotguns with pistol grips are seen on the weapons table before the rescue mission in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01). The Remington Model 870 is seen behind the Hawk 97-1 and appears to have a sawn off pistol grip to accommodate a tactical sling and compactness.
A UKSF soldier breaches a door with a compact Remington 870 in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01).

Hawk 97-1

United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) soldiers are seen readying up a Hawk 97-1 with a shorty 12.5" barreled, front blade sight, 6 shot side shell saddle and Pachmyer pistol grip in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01), with Steve Andrews (Craig Hawks) using the shotgun to breach a door. This shotgun may be trying to stand in for the Remington Model 870 as the British designated L74A1 or may have been selected for plausible deniability because of it's Chinese origin.

Two short barrelled Remington shotguns with pistol grips are seen on the weapons table before the rescue mission in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01). The shotgun with the shell saddle and Pachmayr pistol grip is actually a Hawk 97-1 as distinguished by the rounded pump handle and Mossberg like front blade sight which is used by Steve Andrews (Craig Hawks) during the rescue mission.

Assault Rifles

Colt M4A1

The M4A1 carbine is used by John Porter (Richard Armitage), United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) soldiers, United States Marines and American forces throughout the series, with a variety of different sights such as Aimpoint CompM2s and/or Trijicon TA31 ACOG scopes and attachments on KAC quad railed handguards while some M4s have the rounded A2 handguards. It should be noted that, in reality, the UKSF and SAS use the Canadian-made C8 carbine, not the US-made M4, however in the case of the rescue mission in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01), the use of M4s by the United Kingdom Special Forces may possibly be for plausible deniability. A UKSF operator is seen armed with a M4A1 with a M203A1 grenade launcher in the same episode as the latter and in "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02). During re-training with Section 20, John Porter uses a green painted M4A1 carbine in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01) and later again in "Zimbabwe: Part One" (S01E03), where Porter retrieves from his DPM rucksack pack a similar (or likely the same carbine) painted M4A1 to replace his AK rifle to use up to "Zimbabwe: Part Two" (S01E04) before leaving it to jump off into a creek.

John Porter (Richard Armitage) holds an M4A1 fitted with an AN/PVS-14 night sight in the prologue to Episode 1. Note the weaponlight attached under the barrel. Before the mission, Porter was chamber inspecting a M4A1 with a Trijicon TA31 ACOG scope before the sight changes to the AN/PVS-14 night sight actually used in the mission, possibly a continuity error in that scene.
In "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01), Steve Andrews (Craig Hawks) and one of Porter's teammates return fire at Iraqi soldiers with their M4A1 carbines fitted with Aimpoint CompM2 and Trijicon TA31 ACOG scopes.

In "Afghanistan: Part One" (S01E05), another U.S Marine fires his M4A1 with an ACOG sight and AN/PEQ-2 IR designator.

Colt M16A2

A M16A2 rifle is seen being inspected by a United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) soldier before the rescue mission in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01), however it wasn't actually used in the mission. A M16A2 is seen next to Lieutenant Layla Thompson (Jodhi May) in a U.S. Marine base in Basra in the same episode. Compared to the M4A1, the M16A2 was actually used by the UKSF in real life.

M16A2 Rifle - 5.56mm. Select Fire rifle (Safe/Semi/3 round Burst Only).

L85A2

Collinson (Andrew Lincoln) is briefly seen with a L85A2 in the prologue of "Iraq: Part One" (S1E01), before Porter gives him a Heckler & Koch G3KA4 to use during a hostage rescue mission in Basra.

L85A2 - 5.56mm
In the prologue of ""Iraq: Part One" (S1E01), Porter (Richard Armitage) takes Collinson's (Andrew Lincoln) L85A2 away from him, giving him the G3KA4 to use instead. Porter also gives Collinson a PASGT helmet with US 3 color desert camouflage cover to replace his Mk6 DDPM camouflage helmet and rips off his Parachutist Badge jump wings patch, most likely to denounce any involvement of UK forces.

Heckler & Koch G36C

Porter carries a Heckler & Koch G36C with a red dot sight and suppressor during Episode 5.

Heckler & Koch G36C - 5.56x45mm
Porter escorts Baxter to the extraction zone during Episode 5.

AKMS

The AKMS is used throughout the series by enemies, including Iraqi Republican Guard and Sword of Islam insurgents in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01) and "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02), Zimbabwean soldiers in episodes 3 and 4, and Afghan militants in episodes 5 and 6. Porter also uses captured AKMS rifles on several occasions while escaping enemy confinement.

A Taliban militant fires an AKMS in Episode 5.
Porter holds an AKMS in Episode 6.

Norinco Type 56

A majority of Iraqi Republican Guard soldiers carry Norinco Type 56 rifles in the later moments of the UKSF rescue mission in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01). Some Sword of Islam insurgents also carry NT56 rifles in the same episode as the latter and in "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02).

Norinco Type 56 (Imported into the US as the Norinco AKS-47 or AKS-47 Sporter) - 7.62x39mm

Norinco Type 56-1

Some Iraqi Republican Guard soldiers carry Norinco Type 56-1 rifles in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01). Sword of Islam insurgents also carry NT56-1 rifles in "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02).

Norinco Type 56-1 7.62x39mm

Norinco Type 84

A Iraqi Republican Guard soldier carries a Norinco Type 84 during the helicopter roof extraction in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01). Iraqi insurgents Sword of Islam use Norinco Type 84 rifles in the same episode as the latter and in "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02).

Norinco Type 84S - 5.56x45mm
In "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01), a Sword of Islam insurgent disguised as an Iraqi Police officer carries the Norinco Type 84 slung as he kidnaps reporter Katie Dartmouth.

Norinco Type 84-2

Iraqi insurgents Sword of Islam use Norinco Type 84-2 rifles in "Iraq: Part One" (S01E01) in "Iraq: Part Two" (S01E02).

Vektor R5

South African soldiers led by Collinson are armed with Vektor R5 rifles in Episode 4.

Vektor R5 - 5.56x45mm
Collinson holds the R5 while directing the South African soldiers in Episode 4.

Vektor R5 (Modified to resemble AK-47/AKM)

Another weapon commonly seen in the hands of enemies are Vektor R5 rifles modified to resemble the AK-47, as distinguished by their angled receivers and Galil-style 5.56mm magazines. These rifles are likely the same as the ones seen in District 9 since armorer Olly Steele worked on both projects.

Polytech Legend AK-47 - 7.62x43mm
Vektor R5 - 5.56x45mm
Porter points the faux AK-47 at Masuku during an argument in Episode 4. Note the Valmet-style angled receiver that distinguishes the weapon as a R5 rather than a genuine Kalashnikov.
Masuku holds the rifle in Episode 4.
Colonel Tshumba fires a faux AK-47 while attacking Porter and Masuku's hideout in Episode 4.

Battle Rifles

Vektor R1

A Vektor R1 rifle is seen carried by a Tsotsi bandit in Zimbabwe before its taken by Porter then is used by Porter in "Zimbabwe: Part Two" (S01E04). This is an early model R1 which uses the fibreglass handguard with metal ferrule and wooden stock and because filming took place in South Africa, the use and access of the R1 makes sense.

Vektor R1 - 7.62x51mm NATO
Porter picks up a Vektor R1 taken from a group of criminals who tried to attack an orphanage in "Zimbabwe: Part Two" (S01E04).
