Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (2005)

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a critically acclaimed 2005 stealth action video game, the third in the Splinter Cell series. It was released in 2005 for the PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube.

Players once again control Sam Fisher (voiced by Michael Ironside), an elite agent operating for the National Security Agency's "Third Echelon" covert ops branch. Set in 2007, Sam is tasked with preventing a war between China, North Korea, South Korea, and Japan as tensions in Asia run to an all-time high. He learns that unknown parties are manipulating events behind the scenes with the aid of a digital superweapon and that the true enemies may be closer than he thinks.

Handguns

FN Five-seveN

Referred to as the "SC Pistol", the FN Five-seveN is Sam's standard issue sidearm. It is said to beintegrally silenced in-game and appears to be the original model. It is also fitted with an "OCP device", which temporarily disrupts electrical equipment, like cameras and lights.

Beretta 92FS

The Beretta 92FS is used by The People's Voice revolutionaries and Panamanian guards.

Heckler & Koch Mark 23

The Heckler & Koch Mark 23 is used by New York Army National Guard soldiers, as well as JGSDF soldiers. In real-life, the US military used the Beretta M9 as their standard sidearm when this game was made, and the JGSDF uses the Minebea P9 (a Japanese license-produced SIG-Sauer P220) as their standard sidearm, while the Mark 23 was hardly used by anyone at all because most found the pistol too large and ungainly, especially with its suppressor and LAM attached.

Desert Eagle Mark XIX

The Desert Eagle Mark XIX is used by Doug Shetland at the end of the bathhouse level and by General Jung, who is only seen in co-op mode. It clearly features the scope mount and taller cocking serrations of the Mark XIX model.

Yarygin PYa

The Yarygin PYa can be seen in the hands of North Korean soldiers. While not completely unreasonable in the context of the game's setting, in reality, a Makarov PM or Tokarev TT-33 would have been more appropriate. This is notably one of the earliest appearances of this pistol in popular culture, and the pistol had been released only two years before the game's release.

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP7A1

The MP7A1 is used by the Displace International mercenaries and some I-SDF soldiers as their standard "handgun".

Heckler & Koch UMP9

The UMP9 is used by some Displace International mercenaries. They are usually equipped with C-More Systems red dot sights.

Rifles

FN F2000 Tactical

Sam's standard issue rifle, the FN F2000 Tactical returns from previous games as the "SC-20K". It can be fitted with either a 40mm launcher, a shotgun, a "20mm Sniper attachment", or an ordinary handguard. Sights are usually a C-More red dot sight, changing to a standard F2000 sight with the "sniper attachment". Like the Five-seveN, it is said to be integrally suppressed. Unlike the real weapon, the one in-game one has an adjustable stock, as well as a two-stage trigger.

After fleeing his captors in the last level, Sam reacquires his kit.

AICW

The AICW is used by People's Voice revolutionaries; Sam mentions how strange it is they have access to them, especially considering the weapon did not see any large-scale production. The AICW is basically a Steyr AUG with an integrated, three-shot grenade launcher developed by the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, Metal Storm, and Tenix Defence Systems. The in-game version has a longer grenade tube and barrel.

Norinco Type 56

The Norinco Type 56 is used by People's Voice revolutionaries and North Korean soldiers.

The STK SAR 21 is used by I-SDF troops.

Heckler & Koch G36C

The Heckler & Koch G36C is the standard rifle of the Displace International mercenaries, usually equipped with a C-More Systems red dot sight.

Heckler & Koch XM8

The Heckler & Koch XM8 is used by South Korean soldiers and some New York Army National Guard (ARNG) soldiers. In real-life, South Korea uses the Daewoo K2, and the US Army and ARNG use the M4 carbine.

Howa Type 89F

The Heckler & Koch XM29 OICW is used by a few New York Army National Guard soldiers, and seen next to the corpses of a few South Korean soldiers.

Launchers

FN GL-1

The GL-1 appears on Sam's FN F2000 Tactical and functions more like an FN 303. It can be used to fire various less-lethal rounds or sticky cameras.

FIM-92A Stinger

A FIM-92A is used by a North Korean soldier to take down a US Navy EA-6B Prowler in the cutscene preceding the second half of the Seoul level. It would make more sense for a North Korean soldier to be using a Soviet-made AA launcher, such as a Strela or Igla, unless the Stinger was captured from South Korean or US forces in the field.

Shotguns

Unknown Shotgun

An unidentified shotgun can be mounted under Sam's F2000.

It appears to be a modified Franchi SPAS-12 with the grip and stock removed, as the barrel and foreend bears a strong resemblance to the SPAS-12.

Machine Guns

M60E3

The barrel of an M60E3 can be seen sticking out of a box of weapons in the first mission.

The RPD can be seen used by some North Korean special forces soldiers during the North Korean invasion of Seoul.

Heavy weapons

GE M134 Minigun

The GE M134 Minigun is seen mounted in the turret of the fictional North Korean IFVs and on helicopters.

Phalanx CIWS

A Phalanx CIWS is seen as part of the armament of the USS Clarence E. Walsh (CG-80).

XM307 ACSW

The XM307 ACSW is used as part of Displace International's automated sentry guns. The in-game weapon seems to have a higher rate of fire than the real one, and does less damage than you would expect from a .50 BMG weapon, killing the player no faster than any other automatic weapon in the game.
