Silent Hill: Origins, known as Silent Hill: Zero in Japan, is the fifth installment in the Silent Hill survival horror series. It is a prequel to the original Silent Hill game.

It was developed by Climax Studios and published by Konami. It debuted on PlayStation Portable in November 2007, with a port to the PlayStation 2 released in March 2008.

Set seven years prior to the events of Silent Hill, Origins expands the backstory on which the series built itself. Travis Grady, a trucker who suffers from visions that are somehow familiar to him, is running late for a delivery one night. He decides to make up for lost time by taking a detour. On the outskirts of Silent Hill, a cloaked figure darts into the road in front of him; Travis slams on the brakes and exits his truck to check on their condition. Outside his truck, Travis sees a brown-haired girl in a blue uniform, whom he chases into the mysterious town.

The following weapons appear in the 2007 video game Silent Hill: Origins:

Colt Woodsman Match Target

The Colt Woodsman Match Target appears as the "Target Pistol" and is capable of firing up to 6 .22 caliber bullets before needing to reload.

Colt Woodsman 2nd Series Match Target - .22 LR.
The Target Pistol from Silent Hill: Origins.

Colt M1911A1

The "Service Pistol" is a medium caliber US Army surplus gun. It is capable of firing up to eight 9mm bullets before needing to reload. It resembles a nickel-plated Colt M1911A1 with brown plastic grips but is apparently chambered for 9mm ammunition rather than .45 ACP, something the Colt MK IV Series 70 is sometimes seen with.

Smith & Wesson Model 29

What appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 29 with a nickel finish and an 8-inch barrel is called the "Redeemer", capable of firing up to six .44 Magnum cartridges before needing to reload, as per most .44 Magnum revolvers.

Remington SPR 210

The Remington SPR 210 simply appears as "Shotgun" in Silent Hill: Origins and differs from previous shotguns in the series in that it is double-barreled and break-action. The shotgun is deadly at close range and can down numerous enemies in one shot, but, compared to previous games in the series, it has the smallest capacity of any firearm, limited to just two shells.

Winchester Model 1912

Travis is seen holding a shotgun in the cutscene before the final boss fight, though it has a different model to the one used in-game, resembling a Winchester Model 1912 in riot gun configuration.

Winchester Model 70

Described as a breech loader, the "Hunting Rifle" shoots .38 caliber rounds and resembles the Winchester Model 70.

Norinco Type 84S Target

Dubbed "Assault Rifle" in-game, the weapon resembles a Norinco Type 84S Target, due to its unusually long barrel, yet it is chambered for 7,62mm ammunition like a Norinco Type 56. The weapon fires 7.62mm rounds in rapid succession, and has an incorrect magazine capacity of 18 rounds (which the game describes as "large"), when it actually is depicted with a 30-round magazine more characteristic of a Norinco Type 56.

The fact that Travis can acquire such a weapon is a blatant anachronism because civilian AK type rifles entered the US market after 1982, and Silent Hill: Origins is presumably set in 1976, although Travis reflects the rifle is indeed an imitation from the Communist bloc.

Norinco Type 84S "Target" Rifle - 5.56x45mm. Basically a standard Norinco Type 84S with a slightly longer barrel. This variant was ready for market just as the 1989 US import ban was implemented, so it is mostly seen in Canada. It has an 18.5" barrel and was very rarely seen in the US Gun market.
Norinco Type 56 (Imported into the U.S. as the Norinco AKS-47 or AKS-47 Sporter) - 7.62x39mm.
The "Assault Rifle" from Silent Hill: Origins.

"Tesla Rifle"

The Tesla Rifle is an unlockable weapon, obtained only after the UFO Ending has been achieved. The weapon looks very futuristic and shoots unlimited electricity from its barrel instead of actual ammo. It serves a similar role to that of the Hyper Blaster from the first Silent Hill. It appears to be based on an M16A2 and an AR-15 Magpul MOE 6920.
