Silent Hill: Origins, known as Silent Hill: Zero in Japan, is the fifth installment in the Silent Hill survival horror series. It is a prequel to the original Silent Hill game.

It was developed by Climax Studios and published by Konami. It debuted on PlayStation Portable in November 2007, with a port to the PlayStation 2 released in March 2008.

Set seven years prior to the events of Silent Hill, Origins expands the backstory on which the series built itself.

The following weapons appear in the 2007 video game Silent Hill: Origins:

Target Pitsol

"A light target pistol. The kind of thing you see on a gun range. It stings more than it bites."

The Target Pistol is capable of firing up to 6 .22 caliber bullets before needing to reload. It's based on a High Standard HDM .22 Pistol.

High Standard HD Model for comparison (standard factory barrel, no suppressor) - .22 LR.

Service Pistol

"A battered service pistol. This US Army surplus weapon is well used but still as smooth as ever."

The Service Pistol is a medium caliber US Army surplus gun. It is capable of firing up to eight 9mm bullets before needing to reload. It resembles a Nickel Plated Colt M1911A1 with brown plastic grips but is apparently chambered for 9mm ammunition rather than .45 ACP.

Revolver

"A heavy, reliable six shooter. Has "Redeemer" etched on its side. A classic .44 hand cannon, this provides more than enough bang for my buck."

The Redeemer is a revolver capable of firing up to six .44 Magnum cartridges before needing to reload. The weapon appears to be based on a Smith & Wesson M29-3 .44 Magnum revolver with a nickel finish and an 8-inch barrel.

Shotgun

"A wide-bore shotgun. This shotgun only takes two cartridges at a time, but at close range it's unstoppable."

The shotgun in Silent Hill: Origins differs from previous shotguns in the series in that it is double-barreled and break-action. The shotgun is deadly at close range and can down numerous enemies in one shot, but, compared to previous games in the series, it has the smallest capacity of any firearm, limited to just two shells. The Shotgun appears to be based on a 12-gauge Remington SPR210 shotgun.

Travis is seen holding a shotgun in the cutscene before the final boss fight, though it has a different model to the one used in-game, resembling a 12-gauge Winchester Model 1897 Riot Gun pump-action shotgun.

Hunting Rifle

"A sleek hunting rifle. This breech loader is slow to fire but powerful, with a long range."

The Hunting Rifle shoots .38 caliber rounds and resembles the Winchester Model 52.

Assault Rifle

"A fully automatic assault rifle. This knock-off of an iron curtain rifle has a large magazine that holds 18 bullets."

The weapon fires 7.62 millimeter rounds in rapid succession. It resembles a Norinco Type 56 Standard. This is a blatant anachronism because civilian AK type rifles entered US market after 1982, and Origins is presumably set in 1976, although Travis reflects the rifle is indeed an imitation from the Communist bloc.

Tesla Rifle

"The mysterious Tesla Rifle, a weapon from another world. The Tesla Rifle harnesses the power of moonbeams to dispense unlimited electric death. Rumor has it the gun was developed using alien technology."

The Tesla Rifle is an unlockable weapon, obtained only after the UFO Ending has been achieved. The weapon looks very futuristic and shoots unlimited electricity from its barrel instead of actual ammo. It serves a similar role to that of the Hyper Blaster from the first Silent Hill. It appears to be based on an M16A2 and an AR-15 Magpul MOE 6920.
