Shock Troops (Un homme de trop ("One man too many" or "The Extra Man")) is a 1967 French-Italian war drama directed by Costa-Gavras. In Summer 1943 in the Southern France a group of Maquisards (Resistance fighters) attack the prison where Nazi hold the arrested Resistance leaders. Suddenly it appears that there is the extra man (Michel Piccoli) among the liberated people. Is he a German spy, intentionally put in prison cell, or just a victim of circumstances? The commander of the Resistance group Cazal (Bruno Cremer) doesn't want to sentence the innocent to death, but his second-in-command Jean (Jean-Claude Brialy) is sure that the man is the agent and demands the execution.

The following weapons were used in the film Shock Troops (Un homme de trop):

Handguns

Mle 1892 Revolver

Some Maquisards, notably Jean (Jean-Claude Brialy) and Kerk (Jacques Perrin), carry Mle 1892 Revolvers.

The grip of Jean's revolver is seen in holster on the wall.
Solin (Michel Creton) holds the revolver at hand even when sleeping.
Julien (Dominique Viriot) examines the revolver.
Kerk executes the French Nazi Lucian (Pierre Clémenti).
Kerk holds his revolver at the left.
A Maquisard fires the revolver (next to the machine gun).

M1911A1

Cazal's (Bruno Cremer) personal handgun is the M1911A1 pistol. In one scene he gives it to Thomas (Gérard Blain).

World War II Colt M1911A1 - .45 ACP. This was an issued U.S. Army pistol with parkerized finish, thus the official designation of M1911A1

Luger P08

In the final scene several German officers carry Luger P08 pistols. A Luger is also seen in hands of Felix (Serge Sauvion).

Beretta M1934

What appears to be the Beretta M1934 is briefly seen when Groubec (Claude Brasseur) disarms the French gendarme.

Groubec threatens the gendarme with his own pistol.

Unidentified pistol

An unidentified pistol is hold by a French gendarme when Maquisards attack the police precinct in Pradelles.

The gendarme tries to surprise the Maquisards, hiding behind the door.

Submachine Guns

MP40

MP40 SMGs are used by both Maquisards, notably Cazal (Bruno Cremer) and Paco (Nino Segurini), and German troops.

Florent (Med Hondo) adds the MP40 to his MAS-36 rifle.

Sten Mk II

Sten Mk II SMGs are used by Maquisards, notably Jean (Jean-Claude Brialy), Groubec (Claude Brasseur) and Philippe (Paolo Fratini).

Shotguns

Ithaca 37

In the opening scene Paco (Nino Segurini) is armed with a pump action shotgun with sawed-off barrel and stock that appears to be Ithaca 37.

Double Barreled Shotgun

Some Maquisards are armed with double barreled shotguns with both standard and sawed-off barrels.

The shotgun fires.
Ouf (Claude Brosset) holds the sawed-off shotgun (at the left).

Single Barreled Shotgun

Kerk (Jacques Perrin) is seen with a Single Barreled Shotgun.

Kerk experiments with makeshift "rifle grenade": the bottle with petrol, fitted to the stick and fired from the shotgun.

Rifles

MAS-36

MAS-36 rifles are widely used by Maquisards, notably Thomas (Gérard Blain) and Florent (Med Hondo).

Ouf (Claude Brosset) fires the MAS-36 in the final scene.

MAS-49

Kerk's (Jacques Perrin) main weapon is the anachronistic MAS-49 semi-auto rifle. Sometimes he uses the rifle with APX L806 sniper scope. This is probably standing for the early MAS-40, which is really fell into the hands of the Resistance, but this happened only in 1944 (although it can be assumed that Kerk got his rifle earlier from some leaks, again if the above assumption is true). Note: two years earlier Jacques Perrin used MAS-49 with L806 scope in The 317th Platoon.

Karabiner 98k

Karabiner 98k rifles are used by both Maquisards and German troops.

Berthier Mle 1907-15

Berthier Mle 1907-15 rifles are also used by Maquisards, notably Passevin (Charles Vanel).

Machine Guns

Chatellerault M1924/29

The Maquisards group has a single Chatellerault M1924/29 light machine gun. It is mostly used by Groubec (Claude Brasseur) but in several scenes it is manned by Thomas (Gérard Blain), Florent (Med Hondo) and Cazal (Bruno Cremer).

Maxim MG08

The group also has a single Maxim MG08 heavy machine gun. It is mounted on makeshift carriage. During the final battle the MG08 is manned by Lecocq (Patrick Préjean) and Passevin (Charles Vanel).

MG42

German troops use MG42 machine guns in several scenes. During the final battle the MG42 is top-mounted on the turret of M24 Chaffee, standing for German tank, and on Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track APC.

Other Weapons

M9 "Bazooka"

The group has the M9 "Bazooka" (M1 "Bazooka" would fit better for Summer 1943). During the final battle it is used by Groubec (Claude Brasseur).

M9 "Bazooka" - 2.36 inch
Maquisards inspect the Bazooka, recently dropped from a British plane.
The missiles for Bazooka are seen.

F1 Hand Grenade

F1 hand grenades are widely used by Maquisards. The grenades are painted red which indicates them as throwing dummies.

Kerk (Jacques Perrin) makes a booby trap of F1 grenade and a glass.
Kerk carries two more F1 grenades.
Paco (Nino Segurini) carries the F1 grenade on his belt.
Felix (Serge Sauvion) (at the left) plays with a grenade (which is not too wise!)

Unidentified Mortar

Another mortar, used by German troops, looks smaller and lacks bipod so it is hold by the crewmember. Such feature is typical for light mortars, like British 2-inch, but this one looks too large for 2-inch caliber.
