ShAK-12
The ASh-12.7 (Avtomat Shturmovoy > "Automatic Storming Rifle" - 12.7mm calibre) is a Close Quarters Battle or Dynamic Entry weapon. It is useful in penetrating cover or breaching doors. It can also be used to neutralize targets that are behind cover and/or wearing body armor.
Early models had an integral carry handle with a Picatinny rail across the top. Later models had a "flat-top" upper receiver with a monolithic Picatinny rail across the top and a Picatinny rail under the forend that can mount either a vertical foregrip or 40mm muzzle-loading grenade launcher. The barrel can mount either a muzzle brake or a silencer.

Caliber: 12.7×55 mm Subsonic. (The cartridge uses a straight-walled, rimless brass case based on the .338 Lapua Magnum.) Ammunition types include Light Ball (48.14 grams), Heavy Ball (76.08 grams) and Duplex (two Light Ball bullets). The Light Ball round is lead with an aluminum core with a bimetallic jacket with an exposed tip and a hollow in the base.
