Scotland, Pa. is a 2001 black comedy written and directed by Billy Morrissette, adapting Shakespeare's play Macbeth for a more modern setting, with Lord and Lady Macbeth replaced by diner cooks Joe (James LeGros) and Pat McBeth (Maura Tierney) who plan to gain control of the diner they work in by murdering their boss. The setting is shifted to the small town of Scotland, Pennsylvania in 1975.
