The following weapons appear in the television series Red Cap:
Browning Hi-Power
Throughout the series, various models of the Browning Hi-Power are used regularly by both British forces personnel and criminals.
Browning Hi-Power "Type 73" - 9x19mm
Sgt McDonagh ((
Tamzin Outhwaite))uses a Browning for target practice in the pilot. Her browning appears to be a "Type 73" as shown above due to the extended barrel bushing, exterior extractor and wooden grip.
Sgt McDonagh practices stoppage drills with her Browning.
An armed robber uses a black market British Army Browning in "" (Series 1, Episode 3).
A Browning laying on a car console just before it is snatched to murder its owner. This is of pre-1962 manufacture due to the lack of an exterior extractor.
Ray Stevenson's character uses a Browning in "Cover Story" (Series 1, Episode 4).
An ex IRA informant uses a Browning in "Cold War" (Series 1, Episode 5).
An MI5 agent can briefly be seen with a Browning in "Cold War" (Series 1, Episode 5).
SSgt "Hippy" Roper carries a Browning on a number of occasions, such as in "Betrayed (Series 2, Episode 1).
L85A1
As the standard issue rifle of the British Army at the time of production, the L85A1 is seen regularly throughout the series, and also in various stock establishing shots. It is used with SUSATs and iron sights, and also with BFA attached for blank firing exercises.
Sgt McDonagh (
Tamzin Outhwaite) fires her L85A1 with iron sights at the range in the pilot episode.
Sgt McDonagh reloads her rifle at the range. Oddly, the bullets in the magazine do not appear to be either 5.56mm blanks, or inert rounds. Instead they appear to be shorter, and there is a spacer fitted at the front of the magazine.

SIG-Sauer P226
The SIG-Sauer P226 is used as the standard issue pistol of the German police in the series.
A murder suspect relieves a German policeman of his P226 and tries to kill himself with it in the pilot episode. He fails however, and police take the weapon stating that the safety catch was on, flicking it back and forth. As the P226 doesn't have a safety catch, for this shot it switches to a H&K USP. Also, the slide seems to protrude too far in front of the frame and it seems to lack the horned bottom corner of the trigger guard, so it is possibly a replice or stunt gun as it was used in a scuffle and was pressed against someone's head.
After the P226 changes to a USP, it changes back to a P226 for the next shot.
Heckler & Koch USP
A Heckler & Koch USP can briefly by seen in "H-Hour" (Series 1, Episode 1) where a continuity error causes a SIG-Sauer P226 to change into a USP, and then back again. The likely reason for this is that the dialogue was describing the operation of the safety catch, and as there is no manual safety on a P226, a USP was required to stand in briefly.
L21A1 RARDEN 30mm Cannon
Seen at various points throughout the series and in establishing shots, mounted as the main gun on Scimitar and Warrior armoured.
Smoke Grenade Discharger
Smoke grenade dischargers can be seen mounted on Scimitar, Warrior, Challenger 2 and Saxon armoured vehicles throughout the series.
Royal Ordnance L30A1 120mm Gun
Seen at various points throughout the series and in establishing shots, mounted as the main gun on Challenger 2 MBTs.
One of the commonly used establishing shots from the first series features a Challenger moving through woodland.

L86A1
An L86A1 LSW can be briefly seen in "H-Hour" (Series 1, Episode 1).

L7 Machine Gun
The British version of the FN MAG, the L7 can be seen in establishing shots throughout the series where it is being dry fired, cocking the weapon between shots, correctly using inert drill ammunition.

SIG-Sauer P228
The SIG-Sauer P228 is seen several times throughout the series, most obviously when uses by RMP Close Protection officer in Bosnia.
A photo of a P228 can be seen in an album of collected firearms kept by a soldier in "Crush" (Series 1, Episode 2). It was stated that the weapon was obtained by a trade with a US Green Beret in Kosovo.

Tamzin Outhwaite carries a P228 when on close protection duties in Bosnia in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1).
MAC-10
A replica on a MAC-10 Can be seen in "Crush" (Series 1, Episode 2) where it is part of an arcade machine.
Ingram MAC-10 open bolt submachine gun - .45 ACP
The replica MAC-10 is the controller for a 1st person shooter game in the NAAFI.
51mm Mortar Bomb
A pair of illumition round for a British L9A1 51 mm Light Mortar can be seen in "Crush" (Series 1, Episode 2).

Mark 8 Thunderflash
A Mark 8 Thunderflash is used by British soldier in "Crush" (Series 1, Episode 2) as part on an initiation ceremony.
A SOCO (Scenes Of Crime Officer) presents a thunderflash as the cause of explosive residue found at the scene of a fatal crash.
Heckler & Koch G36
The full length G36 can occasionally be seen used by German police throughout the series.

A G36 can briefly be seen being carried by a German policeman during the assault on the house in "Espirit de Corps" (Series 1, Epsiode 3).
Heckler & Koch G36K
The carbine length G36k is the normal weapon used by German SEK officers throughout the series.

German police snipers have been seen using PSG-1 sniper rifles on several occasions where an armed response was required, both with and without fitted bi-pods.

Several snipers can be seen carrying PSG-1s in "Payback" (Series 1, Episode 6).

Beretta 92FS
A bank robber in "Payback" (Series 1, Episode 6) carries a Beretta 92FS.
As the bank robber collects mobile phones from the customers, his Beretta 92FS can be seen.
Walther P99
A corrupt bank guard in "Payback" (Series 1, Episode 6) carries a Walther P99.
Walther P99 - 9mm. Pre-2004 model.
The accessory rail of this P99 is indicative of a first generation pre-2004 model.
IMI Uzi
A bank robber in "Payback" (Series 1, Episode 6) carries a full size IMI Uzi with a folding stock. Late in "Red Light" (Series 2, Episode 3) a number of Uzi submachineguns are used by motorcycle riding criminals to abduct a witness.

Griffrepetierer
Two Griffrepetierer rifles can be seen used by German police snipers in "Payback" (Series 1, Episode 6). It is seen with both red dot sights and telescopic sights. manufactured by Sommer&Ockenfuß, the rifle is a pump action bullpup, operated by first releasing a lock on the rear of the pistol grip, and then pulling the pistol grip to the rear, and then sliding it forward again. The rifle is available in many calibres up to .300 Winchester Magnum.
Both rifles shown are the hunting version, the top with black synthetic furniture, and the bottom with wood furniture. There is also a sport version available, which uses dark red or dark blue synthetic furniture.
The first version seen appears to use a red dot sight. The lighter grey part of the rifle that form part of the butt is the magazine of the weapon.
The second version of the rifle seen uses a telescopic sight.
Heckler & Koch HK53
The main weapon used by Sgt McDonagh (Tamzin Outhwaite) and the rest of the close protection team in Bosnia in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1) is a HK53. This is the corrrect weapon that was used by RMP CP teams until it was phased out in favour of the C8 CQB.

Sgt McDonagh escorts a General to a waiting helicopter, carrying an HK53. From the length of the magazine, it appears that the 30rd magazine made for the HK93 are being used, rather than the 25rd magazines the HK53 was supplies with.
In this shot the pronged flash hider is visible, which is the standard HK53 flash hider. It should be noted however that the majority of HK53s used by RMP Close Protection used a regular birdcage flash-hider to prevent snagging the muzzle on clothing.

Sgt McDonagh provides cover out of the rear of a long wheelbase Land Rover with her Hk53. In this shot it is possible to see that this particular HK53 uses a Navy trigger group.
M249 Paratrooper SAW
An gunner can briefly be seen carrying a M249 Paratrooper SAW on board a Lynx helicopter in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1).

The M249 paratrooper can be seen protruding from the side of the Lynx on take-off.
Another view showing the horizontal grooves on the hand-guard, identifying this as an M249, rather than the flat textured guard of the FN Para Minimi as actually used by British forces.
Colt Carbine
A number of what appears to be some sort of Colt Carbine is used by the SAS soldiers in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1). From the quality of the image it is not clear which version exactly, but the weapons do not have a removable carry handle, but use the A2 type rear sight. It is possibly a Model 727, but this is not definite.
An SAS soldier covers a corner with his carbine. From this angle, you can see what appears to have the "step down" M4 style barrel that the Model 727 has.
This angle shows that the gun in question has a fixed carry handle (ruling out the possibility that it is an M4A1) and A2 style rear sight.
M16A2
M16A2s is used by several SAS soldiers in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1) with and without grenade launchers and Colt 4x20 scopes.

M203
Several M203 grenade launchers can be seen mounted under the M16 rifles used by the SAS in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1).

AKMS
A crate of what appears to be AKMS rifles can by seen in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1) along with associated magazine.

Tokarev TT-33
A Tokarev TT-33 is used by a Bosnian child in "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1) to shoot an SAS soldier, and later to threaten the investigating SIB officers. One is also briefly visible being carried by an insurgent in Iraq in "Friendly Fire" (Series 2, Episode 5).

SIG-Sauer P229
Sgt McDonagh (Tamzin Outhwaite) carries a SIG-Sauer P229 at the end of "Betrayed" (Series 2, Episode 1).
After she is transferred back to the SIB, Sgt McDonagh uses a P229. This can be identified due to the ridge that runs the full length of the slide, and the half height slide serrations.
Brno Carbine
A rifle describes as a Brno Carbine is used by a British soldier for poaching wild boar in "True Love" (Series 2, Episode 2), but the exact model is unclear.

L16 81mm Mortar
An L16 Mortar can be seen used in establishing shots from the start of Series 2. They also feature prominently in "Friendly Fire" (Series 2, Episode 5) where a soldier is killed by a stray mortar bomb.
