The Pianist is a 2006 World War II biographical drama directed by Roman Polanski and starring Adrien Brody as Wladyslaw Szpilman, a pianist who witnesses the German occupation of Poland. The film was adapted from Szpliman's autobiographical novel of the same name and would go on to be nominated for seven Academy Awards, receiving two for Best Director and Best Actor.
