No.1 Mk.I Cup Discharger

The No.1 Mk.I Cup Discharger is a rifle grenade launcher designed for use on the Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III*. The grenade launcher fired a modified No. 36 Mills Bomb, which featured a special gascheck disk base (though it can also fire other grenades). Because of the heavy recoil of launching a rifle grenade, some rifles were specifically modified with wire wrappings (which reinforces the weapon and prevents the stock and forearm from splitting under recoil) and used only in the grenade launcher role. These were called EY rifles, which stood for "EmergencY use".
