Mortal Engines
Mortal Engines is a 2018 steampunk fantasy film set in the post-apocalyptic far future, based on the novel of the same name in the Mortal Engines Quartet by Philip Reeve. Along with her pregnant mother, young Ofelia moves into the house of her stepfather, Captain Vidal (Sergi López), commander of the local Guardia division. Ofelia meets a mysterious Faun in the eponymous Labyrinth, who gives her three tasks so she can prove herself to be a long-lost princess reincarnated as a mortal. Meanwhile, the coldly authoritarian Vidal rages a war with Spanish Maquis fighters in the surrounding woods, the last remnants of the defeated Republicans.
