Mission: Impossible (1996)

Mission: Impossible is the 1996 motion picture adaptation of the popular 1960's spy series. Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt, an agent of the IMF (Impossible Mission Force), who looks to find the mole in the IMF that got his team killed and framed him for their demise.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Walther PPK

Jim Phelps uses a suppressed Walther PPK to shoot himself in Prague. It turns out it is loaded with blanks.

Beretta Cougar

IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) uses a Beretta Cougar to aim at fellow IMF agent Claire Phelps (Emaneulle Beart) at the beginning of the film. It's hidden in a vase at his team's apartment in Prague.

SIG-Sauer P225

Various IMF agents including IMF director Kittridge (Henry Czerny) are seen carrying SIG-Sauer P225 handguns. A SIG is also seen on Ethan's table in Prague.

Claire mentions to Ethan that there are 75 rounds for the Beretta, but only 20 rounds for the SIG. Is this a dialogue error, or is the Beretta in another caliber?

The agents in the first picture seems to have SIG-Sauer P228s.

European models of the Beretta 8000 series Cougars were offered in 9x21 caliber. It is possible that both guns were different calibers as the 9x21 was popular in Europe where military calibers such as the 9x19 are banned by law for civilian carry.

Beretta 92FS

An IMF agent is seen with a suppressed Beretta 92FS in the raid of Max's apartment.

A female IMF agent is seen holding a Makarov PM when she and another IMF team raid the meeting room of Max (Vanessa Redgrave).

Smoke Grenade

Hunt throws a smoke grenade in the CIA Headquarters vent after hanking into their computer. A well known goof is he pulls the pin out with his teeth.

Phelps' Custom Firearm

IMF Team Leader Jim Phelps (Jon Voight) assembles and carries a customized Derringer-type firearm when he is on the bullet train. The weapon is assembled from various innocuous radio parts and is fitted with a custom suppressor.
