Lethal Weapon (1987)
The following weapons were used in the movie Lethal Weapon:
Beretta 92F
The Beretta M92F is the primary weapon of Detective Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson). In a memorable scene in the film, Riggs takes out his Beretta and loads a single round into the chamber and comes close to committing suicide with it, but ultimately can't pull it off. He claims to have a special hollow-point bullet saved for that purpose, which he eventually gives to Murtaugh as a symbolic gift at the end of the film (though it's actually a standard full metal jacketed round, not a hollow-point). He's also highly proficient with the weapon, able to draw a smiley face on a silhouette target at several dozen yards with it, much to his partner's bewilderment. An identifying feature on this particular 92F was the gold finish on the Beretta logos on the grips.
Smith & Wesson Model 19
Smith & Wesson Model 19 The is the primary weapon of Detective Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover). In a famous scene in the movie which is repeated in the second film, Murtaugh rolls his neck before dispatching one of the main villains with a single shot from his Model 19. At one point, Murtaugh gives his revolver to Riggs and challenges him to prove his sincerity in his claims of being suicidal. Riggs then places the barrel under his chin and slowly squeezes the trigger, Murtaugh blocking the hammer with his finger at the last moment being the only thing that keeps the weapon from firing. Standard Smith & Wesson Model 19 revolvers can also be seen in use as the sidearms of numerous L.A.P.D. officers throughout the film.
Unknown Revolvers
During the undercover sting in the Christmas tree lot at the beginning of the film, several of the undercover cops pull out revolvers of unknown make and model.
Astra Terminator
During the undercover drug bust near the beginning of the film, one of the drug dealers (Blackie Dammett) holds Riggs at gunpoint with an Astra Terminator. When the other officers fail to act to end the crisis, Riggs manages to disarm the suspect and take his revolver, holding it on the suspect and threatening to shoot him before one of the other officers takes the revolver, saying "he isn't worth it".
(Fake) Heckler & Koch MP5A3
After fighting their way out of the Shadow Company hideout, Riggs commandeers an H&K MP5A3 fitted with a scope from one of the slain Shadow Company henchmen and uses it in a running shootout with Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey) on a crowded L.A. freeway. General Peter McAllister (Mitchell Ryan) and several of his men also use them earlier in the film when meeting with Murtaugh when he and Riggs are captured. In a deleted scene, several L.A.P.D. SWAT officers can also be seen carrying them.
The MP5s that appear in this movie are the elusive "chopped-'n-converted" HK94s that also appear in Predator and Die Hard, as well as other movies.
Heckler & Koch PSG-1
In the scene where Riggs and Murtaugh attempt to rescue Murtaugh's daughter Rianne Murtaugh (Traci Wolfe) from Shadow Company, Riggs provides cover for Murtaugh using a Heckler & Koch PSG-1 sniper rifle with a high-capacity magazine and bipod. He succeeds in taking out several Shadow Company goons and is about to shoot Mr. Joshua when General McAllister interferes and captures him, later seen carrying the rifle across his back while escorting the captured Riggs.
Uzi
During the ill-fated rescue attempt that leads to Riggs and Murtaugh being captured by Shadow Company, several henchmen can be seen wielding Uzis. Another henchman can be seen using one when the protagonists make their escape from Shadow Company's nightclub hideout.
Colt XM177 Commando
During the ill-fated attempt to rescue Rianne from Shadow Company, several of the Shadow Company henchmen can be seen carrying Colt XM177 Commando carbines, using them to shoot Murtaugh's station wagon to pieces and force him to surrender. Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey) is also seen using one fitted with a scope atop the carry handle; first to assassinate Michael Hunsacker (Tom Atkins) from a helicopter at the funeral of his daughter, then during a running shootout with Riggs on an L.A. freeway, and finally when he reaches Murtaugh's house and starts shooting the place apart. In the latter appearance, it has two magazines taped together 'jungle style'.
- MoviePropMaster2008 has explained that these are actually civilian AR15 SP1s which have been visually modified to look like XM177s, with fake flash hiders and shorter barrels.
Walther PPK
While following up on a lead, Riggs and Murtaugh are jumped by a hoodlum brandishing a shotgun. After Murtaugh wounds him and tries to cuff him, the man pulls a stainless steel Walther PPK out of his coat, to which Riggs reacts by fatally shooting him, the hoodlum's death further assured when he falls into a plastic-covered swimming pool.
That looks more like an Astra Constable to me.
Remington 870
While following up on a lead, Riggs and Murtaugh are jumped by a hoodlum brandishing a sawed-off Remington 870 shotgun. Murtaugh is able to disable him with a shot to the leg with his revolver. Mr. Joshua can also be seen wielding an 870 when he attempts to kill Riggs in a drive-by shooting.
M26 Grenade
When attempting to flee from the protagonists, General McAllister's car flips and bursts into flames after Murtaugh shoots and kills the driver. In addition to heroin, the car also contains several M26 hand grenades which are eventually detonated by the fire, killing the General. During the attempt to rescue Rianne, Murtaugh pulls out what appears to be an M26 grenade, claiming that he'll kill everyone present including himself and his daughter if she's not released. Mr. Joshua however calls his bluff and shoots him in the shoulder. Murtaugh then weakly tosses it at the Shadow Company goons making them scurry for cover, but it reveals itself to be a smoke grenade disguised as a Frag grenade, and is also the signal for Riggs to open fire with his sniper rifle.
M14 Rifle
In a deleted scene, Riggs responds to a call of a sniper armed with an M14 rifle who has already shot several officers and a 9 year-old girl, the sight of the wounded girl being carried away driving Riggs to confront the sniper on his own, the sniper firing several shots that fail to hit their mark, Riggs unloading the magazine of his Beretta into the gunman.
M16 Rifle
In the deleted scene mentioned above, an L.A.P.D. SWAT team arrives on the scene after Riggs has taken out the sniper, several SWAT officers carrying M16 rifles loaded with 30-round magazines.
Ithaca 37
In a deleted scene, an L.A.P.D. SWAT officer can be seen carrying an Ithaca 37 when responding to the sniper shooting after Riggs has already taken the gunman down. One can also be seen in Murtuagh's car.
Smith & Wesson Model 15
In the deleted scene above, a female patrol officer can be seen with a Smith & Wesson Model 15 as her sidearm.
M1911A1
During the escape from Shadow Company's nightclub hideout, several Shadow Company goons can be seen armed with M1911A1 pistols. Riggs forces one of the Shadow Company goons to shoot one of his comrades with his before briefly comandeering it until he recovers his Beretta.
Smith and Wesson Model 59?
In two scenes, Joshua (Gary Busey) uses a possible Smith and Wesson Model 59. He shoots Murtaugh in one scene when Murtaugh holds the grenade, and shoots two uniformed police officers randomly.
According to another user (thanks, Orca.), this is not a Model 59. I watched the DVD and had it in slow mo, and it's probably a small-framed Beretta or Walther. Most likely a Beretta Jetfire, but NOT a Model 59.
