Law & Order: Trial by Jury was the third spinoff of the series Law & Order, following Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The series primarily dealt with the legal aspects of a particular crime view from both the prosecution and the defense. Among the series regulars was Jerry Orbach as former NYPD Det. Lennie Briscoe, who retired from the force to work in the DA office (sadly, Orbach would only appear in two episodes before his untimely passing) and Fred Dalton Thompson, who appeared as New York District Attorney Arthur Branch in this series while continuing to appear in the role in the original Law & Order. The series aired for one season from 2005 to 2006 on NBC and had crossover episodes with the original Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. After its cancellation, the series would have its theme song be reused for later seasons of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and its sets were reused for the series Conviction.
