The following lists the weapons seen in Season 5 of the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit:
Handguns
Glock 19
The Glock 19 is the sidearm carried by the majority of NYPD detectives in the Special Victims Unit including Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Detective John Munch (Richard Belzer), and Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T). Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) is sometimes seen carrying one in some episodes. Uniformed NYPD Officers are seen using Glock 19s as well. Like many television shows and films, many times when a Glock is seen being drawn, the sound effect of a hammer cocking is heard (despite the fact that Glocks are hammerless).
Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith"
A Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith" appears in "Bound" (S5E23).
Smith & Wesson 5946
In "Escape" (S5E11), Michael Baxter (Stephen Lang) pulls the Smith & Wesson 5946 during a standoff.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
Capt. Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 36 as his sidearm as this was the revolver he carried during the first three seasons of Law & Order. As Cragen had been serving on the force since the 1970s, it would not be uncommon for veteran NYPD Detectives, who were sworn officers prior to 1993, to carry a revolver. He gives it to ADA Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March) for personal protection in "Loss" (S5E04), after she receives death threats.
Charter Arms Bulldog
Javier Vega (James McDaniel) uses what appears to be a nickel Charter Arms Bulldog to threaten a suspect in "Criminal" (S5E21).
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A2
A Heckler & Koch MP5A2 is notably used in a standoff at the end of "Criminal" (S5E21).
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The NYPD ESU Officers throughout the series use Heckler & Koch MP5A3s as one of their main weapons. They are fitted with various attachments, such as scopes or tactical flashlights. MP5A3s are also carried by Jersey State SWAT officers in "Escape" (S5E11).
Rifles
Remington 700PSS
The NYPD ESU snipers are seen using Remington 700s throughout the series. In "Escape" (S5E11), Jersey State snipers are seen with the rifles.
