The weapon is able to fire in both fully automatic and semi-automatic modes. The adopted/mass-produced LS/26 fed from 20-round box magazines; the later LS/26-32 variant could also accept a 75-round pan magazine, though these do not appear to have been issued to infantry in any significant numbers.
