John Nettles holds a Webley .38 Mk IV (converted to a signal gun) as Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby in Midsomer Murders.

John Vivian Drummond Nettles (born October 11, 1943) is an English actor. His best known role is DCI Tom Barnaby in Midsomer Murders (1995-2011, 81 episodes). Another TV series where Nettles appeared in leading role is a crime drama Bergerac (1981-1991, 87 episodes). In 2010 Nettles was awarded the Order of the British Empire. He also is known as the author of several historical and travel books about British Channel Islands.
