Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is a 2014 espionage thriller starring Chris Pine as Jack Ryan, the CIA analyst made popular in a series of novels written by Tom Clancy and previously portrayed by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck in the films The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears. Unlike the previous films featuring the character, this film is not adapted from a particular Tom Clancy novel, but rather is an original story with certain elements originating from the previously released works. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also has a role in the film.
