'''AVL''' (AV stands for "Armeyskaya Vintovka" ("Army-style rifle" as opposite to small caliber target rifles), L stands for "Los") is a target rifle, based on ''Los'' and chambered for 7.62x54mmR "Extra". It was manufactured in 1972-1978 and used on shooting contests, including Olympic Games, until the rules changed and rifles were limited to small caliber only. Some AVLs are still used as hunting rifles though they are quit rare.
