There is NO SUCH THING as an "M2 M1921". The depicted M2HB design dates from 1938 -- and its correct designation is simply "M2HB".

:The Browning M2 was invented in 1921 by John Moses Browning. In 1938, he was dead. Original designation is "Browning M2 M1921". The Browning M2 M1919 is the .30 caliber counterpart, also invented by Browning. Today, the M2HB (heavy barrel) is the improved version of the original for more sustained fire. Trust me, I KNOW my Browning guns -GM

::Bollocks. The orginal .50-caliber ground gun was the M1921 -- not the M2. That was a watercooled weapon, designed in 1921 (hence M1921), adopted in 1925, and it simply wasn't called the M2. The US Army didn't introduce designations without model year (ie, M2) until the 1930s. The first aircooled .50-caliber ground gun was the M2, which was introduced in 1933. That John Browning was dead at that point is totally irrelevant. He hadn't given the earlier version the designation M1921, either -- the US Army did. The M2 had problems with overheating (the original was watercooled, remember), so they gave it a heavy barrel -- the M2HB. That was in 1938. All the guns you see still in use and in the movies are M2HBs.

The "M2 M1919" doesn't exist either, obviously. There is NO SUCH THING. There is an M1917 (infantry gun), M1917A1 (infantry gun), M1918 (aircraft gun), M1918M1 (aircraft gun), M1918M2 (aircraft gun), M1919 (tank gun), M1919A1 (tank gun), M1919A2 (cavalry gun), M1919A3 (infantry gun), M1919A4 (infantry gun), M1919A5 (tank gun), M1919A6 (infantry gun), M1922 (aircraft gun), and M2 (aircraft gun) -- but there never was an "M2 M1919".

Iron Man (2008)

The following guns were seen in Iron Man:

Heckler & Koch G36K

Raza's Ten Rings fighters carry Heckler & Koch G36K assault rifles, most fitted with G36C-style carry handles. In the film, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) learns that Obadiah Stane has been selling Stark Industries weapons to Raza's men, making them better armed than any of the other jihadist factions in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The various assault weapons used by Raza's men, including the H&Ks, are therefore supposed to be Stark Industries products. It is also possible that in the Iron Man universe, Stark Industries obtained a license from Heckler & Koch to produce G36 and UMP-series weapons in the U.S.

Ten Rings fighter fires a G36K at the first prototype Iron Man. His G36K is outfitted with the current SOPMOD rig, a tandem sight mount with an AN/PVS-14 NVS mounted behind an ACOG (or any other red dot) Scope. This tandem double scope system allows the shooter to use red dot aiming with night vision capability.
A Ten Rings fighter readies his G36K for the approaching prototype Iron Man suit. This rifle is fitted with a high power scope.

Heckler & Koch G36C

Several of Raza's men are also armed with the compact version of the G36, the Heckler & Koch G36C. The G36's are also outfitted with many accessories to disguise their origins. During the escape from the Ten Rings' camp, Yinsen (Shaun Toub) grabs a G36C dropped by one of the fighters and runs towards Raza's men firing wildly, trying to divert attention from Stark until the suit is powered up and he can use it to fight his way out.

Heckler & Koch AG36

Raza (Faran Tahir) is seen with a H&K G36K fitted with a Heckler & Koch AG36 grenade launcher, which he fires at Stark in the prototype Iron Man armor, but misses and it knocked out by Stark's missile instead.

Heckler & Koch UMP40

Several of Raza's men are armed with the .40-caliber version of the Heckler & Koch UMP with tactical outfitting. They can be recognized as such because the magazines are not equipped with transparent material.

CAR-15 rifle

Some of the Ten Rings fighters seem to carry an XM177 lookalike, which is sometimes referred to as a CAR-15, to differentiate it from the real XM177 series of rifles.

M4A1

USAF Airmen stationed in Afghanistan are seen armed with M4A1 carbines. They are also used by airport security when Tony Stark returns to the United States. The M4A1's in the movie are eqiupped with Insight Technologies ISM-V scopes; These scopes have built-in laser aiming modules and night-vision, thus eliminating the need for anything but the handgrip.

Tony Stark attempts to use an USAF Airman's M4A1 Carbine, but finds out that it's jammed. For some reason, he uses the magazine housing instead of the foregrip to steady his aim. (This is from a deleted scene).

M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System

Held by one of Raza's men is an M4A1 with a Magpul Buttstock and an M26 Modular Acessory Shotgun System (MASS) fitted under the barrel. While the carbine's grip appear to be removed, close inspection reveals his sleeve is in the way.

Heckler & Koch USP

One of the Ten Rings members attempts to shoot Stark in the head with a Heckler & Koch USP when his arm gets stuck in the wall, but the round deflects off the armor and hits him instead. Abu Bakaar (Sayed Badreya), the leader of the Ten Rings guerrillas is also seen with a USP at his hip in a holster.
