The Translator (Perevodchik) is a Russian 2014 (filmed 2013) war drama mini series. The plot is set in a Nazi occupied Soviet town of Taganrog. The local school teacher Starikov (Vitaliy Khaev) has to serve as a translator for the German Sicherheitsdienst (SD) to save himself and his family.


The following weapons were used in the film The Interpreter (Perevodchik):


Pistols

Luger P08 (Denix)

Initially the head of the SD in Taganrog Sturmbannführer Martin Leitner (Joachim Paul Assböck) carries a Luger P08. The markings reveal the gun as a Denix replica. Later Leitner is armed with a Walther P38.

Walther P38

SD officers Sturmbannführer Martin Leitner (Joachim Paul Assböck), Untersturmführer Georg Stieber (Georg Blumreiter) and Hauptscharführer Franz Saurich (Petar Zekavica) carry Walther P38 pistols. Andrey Petrovich Starikov (Vitaliy Khaev) hold a P38 in several scenes.

Submachine Guns

MP40

MP40 submachine guns are seen in hands of several German soldiers and officers. Andrey Starikov (Vitaliy Khaev) is armed with an MP40 in the climactic scene. Two MP40s are seen on screen, one of the early model and another one of the late model, with different cocking handles and magazine wells.

When Starikov breaks into Leitner's office, his MP40 switches to an early version due to a continuity error.

MP38

When Starikov's first MP40 runs dry, he takes an MP38.
