Detective Spooner's Pistol (A dressed up Taurus Model 85)

Det. Spooner's custom futuristic Pistol (really a Taurus Model 85 in a plastic shell)
Det. Spooner's custom futuristic Pistol (really a Taurus Model 85 in a plastic shell)
Detective Spooner searches the Robots for the 'killer'
  • Spooner (Will Smith) carries a futuristic custom pistol that is supposed to be a Semiautomatic 9mm. It is built from a 2 part plastic shell (with parts molded from a Walther P99) that has a real Taurus Model 85 .38 special revolver hidden inside. Lt. Bergin (Chi McBride) and all the other police officers appear to also have the sidearm. It is seen in the film next to loaded 9mm magazines, and is holstered with like magazines in adjoining mag pouches, but the real firearm inside the mockup is a .38 special revolver.
Other cops fire the same gun as Spooners' on the attack on the police station.
  • Note: the same technique (enclosing a Taurus Model 85 in a plastic shell) to make a futuristic gun was used on the Television show Firefly. Malcolm Reynold's hero gun was also a modified Taurus Model 85.

Unknown Futuristic Rifle

The Military teams carry an unusual rifle that looks like part paintball gun and part carbine.

Military teams carry this unidentified future rifle. It is probably a complete plastic mockup not based on any real world firearm.

Franchi SPAS-12

  • One of these combination Pump and Semi-automatic shotguns is picked up and used by Lieutenant Bergin (Chi McBride) when the USR robots storm the police station, using it to take down several attackers before being disarmed. His SPAS is heavily modified with a futuristic looking top heat shield and an extended front end.

FN P90

  • The SWAT Team in the interrogation room all carry FN P90s with Aimpoint sights and a suppressor attached.
SWAT team members with FN P90s back up Detective Spooner.
SWAT team members point their FN P90s at Sonny

Heckler & Koch MP5K

  • The SWAT team when Sonny is apprehended is carrying a variety of weapons. We see the same futuristic Shotgun that Lt. Bergin has, as well as the Spooner/Police Pistol. One of the obvious weapons is the Heckler & Koch MP5K with Aimpoint sight.
SWAT opens up on Sonny

Unknown Futuristic Pistol

  • In this shot, the SWAT team member firing behind the officer with the MP5K is firing some sort of heavily modified pistol. It looks like a Taurus PT92/99 type but I am not sure.
An MP5K, an unknown pistol and (in the back, a Spooner pistol) Also the Pistol shooter(s) are suddenly not wearing dark visors! Ooops.

-I think it's a dressed up Beretta M92FS, because if you click on the screenshot and look closely you can see the safety switch on the slide.

Ruger MP9

  • In this shot we see two Ruger MP9s, three Heckler & Koch MP5Ks, one of the Futuristic shotgun used by everyone, and another one of the hither to unknown Futuristic Pistol.
Ruger MP9s, H&K MP5Ks, Futuristic Shotguns and Futuristic Pistols fill out this grouping from the SWAT attack.

Unknown Futuristic Submachine gun

  • Carried by Spooner and used by Susan Calvin, it is an unknown type, enclosed in a custom plastic shell to mask it's true identity. It 'could' be a Spectre M4, all dressed up but that has yet to be determined.
It's definitely a SITES Spectre M4. In one scene of the film, there's an extreme close-up where you see the safety, and it's clearly the same style safety as the Spectre.
I took a shot of a Site Spectre M4 (sorry no mag, will submit another pic when I find the magazines) to check. I figured it was, but missed the scene with the closeup. :)
I wish I could help you out and tell you where it appears, but I know I remember a shot in the film where he's holding the gun, and it's a little blurry because the focus is on his face, but you can see it has that same switch, just like the one above the trigger on the Spectre picture you posted. Also, I think the shot of the gun falling out of his hand and getting stuck on something also shows off the Spectre lineage.
Sites Spectre M4 - Sorry, will take another pic when I find the magazines....

Spooner hands off the unknown weapon to Calvin.
Calvin (Bridget Moynahan) gets ready to fire ... with her eyes closed!

Rubber Shotguns

One of the rubber shotguns, molded from a dressed-up SPAS-12, used in the movie (image from the Prop Store of London, which has this prop gun on sale).
Future police use a fictional shotgun in the movie I, Robot
  • The Security and police tactical units carry these futuristic shotguns. Many of the background guns are rubber molds of the modified SPAS-12 shotgun seen fired by Lt. Bergin (Chi McBride).
