Fantômas is a French-German 1980 mini series of four feature-length episodes, directed by Claude Chabrol and starring Helmut Berger as mysterious arch villain Fantomas, Jacques Dufilho as French police Inspector Juve and Pierre Malet as journalist Fandor. The plot is adapted from novels by Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre. Unlike famous 1960s comedy Fantômas trilogy, the mini series follows the thriller genre of original novels.

Revolvers

Smith & Wesson Military & Police

Smith & Wesson Military & Police or Smith & Wesson Victory Model revolvers are seen in Ep.2 "L'étreinte du diable" in hands of Inspector Juve (Jacques Dufilho), Fantômas (Helmut Berger) and Inspector Michel (Serge Bento). In Ep.3 "Le mort qui tue" two Smith & Wesson revolvers are seen on Juve's table. Several different revolvers are used in the production, and screen guns may be not original S&W but some European, possibly Spanish clones, common in France since the Great War.

For comparison: Orbea Revolver 1892 Espagnol - 8 x 27mm M1892. This Spanish-manufactured clone of M&P revolver was widely used by French army during WW1.

Fantômas, in the mask of Dr.Chalek, fires Smith & Wesson revolver at Juve. In this scene Inspector is armed with a Colt M1917 (see below), so possibly Fantômas' revolver is the same prop, earlier used by Juve.

Juve holds a Smith & Wesson in the scene in Lady Beltham's house. In this scene he has a different revolver that is somewhat smaller than a common M&P - possibly a .32 version, like .32 Hand Ejector Third Model.

Inspector Michel holds two Smith & Wesson revolvers, his own and Juve's. Note that these guns slightly differ in size.

Several revolvers on Juve's table (Ep.3). The one at the left is a large frame Colt while two smaller Smith & Wesson revolvers (one with pearl or ivory grips) are seen at the right.

Colt M1917

In Ep.2 gangster Lupart (Jean-Paul Zehnacker) (or Fantômas in Lupart's mask) holds a large Colt revolver that appears to be a Colt M1917 (Colt New Service is also a possible guess but the plain grips make M1917 more probable). Later in same episode a Colt is used by Inspector Juve (Jacques Dufilho).

Colt New Service

Unlike Ep.2, a Colt revolver in Ep.3 tends to be a Colt New Service as Colt logo can be seen on the grips. This gun is used by Inspector Juve (Jacques Dufilho). A guard in bank railroad vagon has same looking gun.

St. Etienne Mle 1892

French St. Etienne Mle 1892 revolvers are widely used in Ep.2, seen in hands of police personnel and of film actors whom Inspector Juve and Fandor mistook for a real gang of criminals.

Bodeo M1889

A Bodeo M1889 is used as a murder weapon in Ep.4 "Le tramway fantôme".

The revolver is used to kill Marieke (Marieli Froehlich) in Juve's room in Vienna hotel.

Velo-Dog Revolver

A pocket revolver, belonging to Princess Sonia Danidoff (Kristina van Eyck), is seen in Ep.1 "L'échafaud magique". This gun is also used by Fantômas (Helmut Berger). It appears to be a kind of Velo-Dog Revolver with exposed hammer.

Unidentified revolver

In Ep.3 Fantômas' henchman Nibet (Mario David) carries a compact revolver with pearl grips. The shape of the grip bears resemblance with Arminius revolvers.
