Faina Georgievna Ranevskaya (August 27 (August 15 Old Style), 1896 - July 19, 1984) was a famous Soviet tragicomedy stage and screen actress. In 1961 she was awarded the title of People's Artist of USSR. In 1992 British "Who's Who" encyclopedia included Ranevskaya in Top Ten Actors of the 20th century.
