Escanaba in da Moonlight is a 2001 independent comedy written, directed, and starring Jeff Daniels, based on his play of the same name. Other than co-star Harve Presnell, who also narrates the film, most of the other actors are regulars of Daniels' "Purple Rose Theatre" company in his hometown of Chelsea, Michigan.
