Cross of Iron (1977)

Cross of Iron is an 1977 film directed by Sam Peckinpah & starring James Coburn, Maximilian Schell and James Mason. It concerns a company of German soldiers fighting on the Russian front during World War II.

PPSh-41

Steiner (James Coburn), as well as many of men he is commanding, loots a PPSh-41 in the first sequence. Steiner then uses it throughout the film. Originally chambered for 7.62x25. The PPSh-41 was later adopted by the German army & renamed the MP717(r) and re-chambered for 9mm parabellum.

MP40

Used by many of the German soldiers in the film. Stransky tries to use one in the finale but demonstrates his incompetence to Steiner when he cannot reload it.

In the beggining sequence a Mosin Nagant M91/30 is picked up by a German soldier from a dead Russian soldier.
