Criminal Minds - Season 5 (2009-2010)

The following weapons were used in Season 5 of the television series Criminal Minds:

Pistols

Glock 17

B.A.U. (Behavior Analysis Unit) Chief SSA Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) carries a third-generation Glock 17 as his duty sidearm. Member's of Sam Cooper's team also carry Glock 17 pistols. Hotcher notably uses his Glock 17 in "100" (S05E09) in an attempt to gun down George Foyet (AKA 'The Boston Reaper'). A Glock 17 also appears to be used by SSA Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) in "A Rite Of Passage" (S05E19).

In "The Fight" (S05E18), B.A.U. Chief SSA Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) draws his Glock during a raid.
In "A Rite of Passage" (S05E19), SSA Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) appears to draw a full-size Glock 17 instead of her regular Glock 19. A Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with Surefire forend is shown in the foreground.
Detective Mark Spicer (Eric Close) draws his Glock 17 in the Season 5 finale "Our Darkest Hour (Part 1)" (S05E23).

Glock 17 (Streamlight TLR-2 weaponlight)

Supervisory Special Agent Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) carries a third-generation Glock 17 with a mounted Streamlight TLR-2 weaponlight/laser module as his duty sidearm. In "The Fight" (S05E18), FBI SSA Mick Rawson (Matt Ryan), a member of Sam Cooper's team, also carries a Glock 17 with a similar weaponlight attachment.

Glock 19

SSA Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) uses a Third-Generation Glock 19 as her sidearm. A Glock 19 also appears be the sidearm of FBI SSA Gina LaSalle (Beau Garrett) in "The Fight" (S5E18), though hers is a Second-Generation variant, evidenced by the lack of an accessory rail.

Glock 26

A Glock 26 pistol is the duty weapon of the B.A.U.'s 'Communications Liaison' SSA Jennifer 'J.J.' Jareau (A.J. Cook). The Glock 26 is also the backup weapon carried by both Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) and Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), both carried in ankle holsters. Hotchner uses his Glock 26 in "100" after his Glock 17 runs dry (and is also knocked away before he can reload it).

Springfield Custom Professional 1911-A1

SSA David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) carries a Springfield Custom Professional 1911-A1 throughout the series. Rossi has a background of serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, which possibly helps explain his use of a 1911-type pistol.

Beretta 92FS pistols are used by many characters, including criminals and police officers.

M1911A1

Various M1911A1 pistols are seen several times throughout the series. In "100" (S05E09), George Foyet/'The Reaper' (C. Thomas Howell) uses an M1911A1 in a confrontation with Deputy U.S. Marshal Sam Kassmeyer (D.B. Sweeney). He also fires it several times at Hotchner while fighting with him, but misses him. A stainless 1911 pistol is wielded by John Vincent Bell (Jason Brooks) in "The Fight" (S05E18).

In "The Fight" (S05E18), the unsub John Vincent Bell (Jason Brooks) threatens a hostage with a stainless M1911A1. The lack of the curved mainspring housing in the lower rear of the grip shown here could indicate this gun is actually a Colt MK IV Series 80.

Revolvers

Smith & Wesson Model 65

Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) carries as his main weapon a 3" barrel Smith & Wesson Model 65 with wood-colored grips. He carries his sidearm in a very frontal appendix-carry (as he also did with his previous Glock 17), a manner in-which a militia leader once said "The way you wear that gun - you're just beggin' someone to take it off of ya." In addition, he carries the double action revolver in a holster that does not cover the trigger guard, something that is not generally advisable.

Smith & Wesson Revolver "Non Gun"

In Season 5's premiere "Nameless, Faceless" (S05E01), Reid uses what is supposed to be his Smith & Wesson Model 65 in a confrontation with Patrick Meyers (Michael Adler). Upon closer inspection, the revolver seen being drawn and fired appears to be a Non Gun replica. This was most likely done due to being in close proximity to another actor.

Smith & Wesson Model 629 Performance Center

Identified as a .44 Magnum, a Smith & Wesson Model 629 Performance Center is used as the weapon of choice for George Foyet aka 'The Boston Reaper' (C. Thomas Howell), an infamous serial killer and the nemesis of Agent Hotchner (Thomas Gibson). It is seen in flashback sequences in "100" (S05E09) and also seen in the season opener "Faceless, Nameless" (S05E01), both in the episode and also during flashbacks of the conclusion of the previous Season 4 two-part finale "...And Back (Part 2)" (S04E26). However, the revolver is substituted with a 'Non-Gun' in some scenes (see below).

Smith & Wesson Model 10

Patrick Meyers (Michael Adler) uses a .38 Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolver as his weapon of choice in Season 5's premiere "Faceless, Nameless" (S05E01). When fired however, it changes to a 'Non-Gun' (see below).

ISS Flashbulb Non Gun - "Smith & Wesson J-Frame Revolver"

In "Faceless, Nameless" (S05E01), George Foyet aka 'The Boston Reaper' (C. Thomas Howell) appears in some scenes to be holding what appears to be a ISS Flashbulb Smith & Wesson J-Frame Revolver in a stainless finish instead of the 629 Performance Center revolver. A Non Gun also appears to be used when Patrick is seen firing his revolver in the same episode.

Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose

A Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose appears to be used by unsub Wade Hatchett in "Solitary Man" (S05E17) and a similar revolver is used by Billy Flynn, aka 'The Prince of Darkness' (Tim Curry) in "Our Darkest Hour (Part 1)" (S05E23).

Smith & Wesson Model 36

Standard J-frame Smith & Wesson Model 36 revolvers are used by numerous unsubs (short for 'unknown-subjects') throughout the show. Deputy Ronald Boyd (Mike Doyle), a deputy sheriff in Terlingua, Texas notably uses a Model 36 in "A Rite of Passage" (S05E19).

Rifles / Carbines

M4A1

Throughout the series, FBI SWAT and several local police tactical units carry M4A1 Carbines, both standard models and variants with various accessories. An M4A1 carbine is used by Deputy Ronald Boyd at the end of "A Rite of Passage" (S05E19).

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP5A3

SSAs Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) and David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) use Heckler & Koch MP5A3s with dedicated SureFire lights in "A Rite of Passage" (S05E19). They deploy them because the region of Texas they are traveling to is close to the Mexico-U.S. border, and since there is a high possibility of armed attack (because drug and alien-smuggling cartels directly target and place bounties on U.S. law enforcement agents, especially Federal agents), they may need the additional firepower.

Sniper Rifles

SVD Dragunov

In "The Fight" (S05E18), FBI SSA Mick Rawson (Matt Ryan) takes aim with a SVD Dragunov sniper rifle fitted with a scope and bipod. The rifle is an unusual choice for an American federal agent (however, it's mentioned that Rawson is former British SAS).
