Crash

Crash (2004)

Crash is a 2004 ensemble drama that follows the lives of several individuals of varying ethnicities living and working in the city of Los Angeles and who are loosely connected. The film was produced, co-written, and directed by Paul Haggis and the cast included Matt Dillon, Thandie Newton, Don Cheadle, Shaun Toub, Ryan Phillippe, Terrence Howard and Sandra Bullock. Crash would subsequently be nominated for six Academy Awards and would receive four, including the Award for Best Picture. The film would later be adapted in 2008 as a 13-episode television series that premiered on the Starz Network.

Colt Detective Special (3rd Generation)

Farhad (Shaun Toub) is seen trying to purchase a third generation Colt Detective Special at the beginning of the film. Farhad later seen trying to fire it at Daniel (Michael Peña).

The gun store owner puts the Colt on the counter. Farhad's daughter Dorri (Bahar Soomekh) is able to walk out with it that very day despite the California waiting period.

The Beretta 92FS is the main sidearm of the majority of the police officers in the film including Officer Tom Hansen (Ryan Phillippe).

Anthony (Chris "Ludacris" Bridges) and Peter (Larenz Tate) pull Smith & Wesson Model 36 revolvers on Cameron Thayer (Terrence Howard) when they try to carjack him.

Smith & Wesson 4506-1

Officer Hill (Billy Gallo) carries a stainless Smith & Wesson 4506-1 as his sidearm that he draws on Cameron after the car chase. Det. Graham Waters (Don Cheadle) also appears to carry a S&W in his holster.

Smith & Wesson 4506-1 - .45 ACP. Note the lack of a 'step up' in the frame that the older 4506 has as well as the rounded trigger guard. Also note the straight backstrap to the pistol grip versus the curved backstrap on the older model.

A Ruger P89 with blued finish and Hogue rubber grips is briefly seen underneath the glass counter of the gun store owner at the beginning of the film.
